I sent a set of shocks to Mike Carver for a revalve/upgrade and am making a list of shit I want/need on the shelf now for spares or otherwise, before winter rolls in and there's another parts shortage.

Apparently dimmerman actually owns the actual sled that 109k sled is a clone of. He has proof to back that up, including numbers matching the one he owns to eagle river’s records. Never really got into that old real old vintage racing stuff but the story is wild. The fact that owner of that 109k sled is in jail for fraud wouldn’t surprise me he had a clone built and played it off it as real to everyone that wanted to listen to him.

There were several people cautioning everyone before the auction that some sleds are real but that there are most definitely many clones. I can't even imagine paying 6 figures for a race pedigree historic sled and then finding out it's fake and probably worth 5k. WTF, stupid Polaris people get your shit together for crying out loud

I don't think Jim owns it but knows who does very well.

You guys should follow Dimmerman on FB and read all about it. He's written several pages about this machine and had talked to a lot of the people who would know about the sled. He owns it and has seen the ER registration from those years showing the serial number and explains the story of his modified seat fism that only couple people would know about and the hand punched serial number. He's done his homework, it's a long read over several posts. That auction sled is a clone/tribute sled.

The July 22nd post is even more interesting and really confirms what he has is the real sled, at least the tunnel half of it.

I have read the auction sled has the motor. The little reading I have done on it between Jim and what not, the “sled in question” doesn’t exist and hasn’t for some time. It appears that it was just a whore of race sled back then and had been hacked up over the years for different forms of racing, by many different people before it was parked. It looks like Jim has the pieces that match the eagle river’s records and the auction sled has the motor in it that was used at eagle river at that time

I don't think so, I think he may have said the bulkhead was switched out to run a twin and because the magnesium one cracked because they all did. But what's important is the serial number, that's how an entire machine is identified. That is the id of any machine. Anything else is just a clone. Which is what the auction sled is. Nothing wrong with that. But for 100k I wonder if the buyer knew they were getting a clone. Maybe they did. But the real valuable stuff is the actual machine that did the stuff, that you can look back at pictures in winner circles and say that's this machine.

Such a fine line with this stuff, no different than cars obviously. Once disassembled, not many ever get back to original.

But it sure looks cool on a shelf… nothing too special here, but it didn’t cost me $100k.

Only pieces of them were by the looks of it. Kinda like my catalyst. Only a few pieces remain of the original sled. I guess i need to pull the first gen sticker off lol
