What a fucking joke.

House Speaker Melissa Hortman, DFL-Brooklyn Park, on Wednesday told House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt, R-Crown that she would not take action against Thompson while his criminal trial was still open and would defer to the House Ethics Committee in the interim.

BTW, I doubt the WI AG will do anything regarding this:

That prompted critics to call for an investigation into his residency. The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association asked the Wisconsin Attorney General to consider perjury charges against Thompson for signing a form attesting that the Wisconsin address he gave was correct.

So he filed to run for offices in MN, attesting that his WI address was correct, and the office accepting his filing didn't reject it, or even question it?

Seems to me that this is just a small sample of how easy it is to get elected, vote, etc. My guess is both sides don't want to start having media outlets show who doesn't live in their district, state, etc.

He’s sorry it all went south on him….that’s all.

Bingo.  He doesn't want to have to resign.  The left has figured out how to get people elected that willingly break the law in order to push an agenda, or just do what they are told.  We have democrats from bigger cities doing the same thing in my area.

A couple wee wittle updates on this dirtbag.

April 2022 - Attempted to bully police officers during his adult daughter's stop for erratic driving.

August 2022 - Looses his primary and blames it on slander.  Like 88% to 11% loss.

June 2023 - The apple doesn't fall far from the dirtbag tree:

BREAKING UPDATE: According to multiple sources, the suspect driver who killed five people and fled the scene in south Minneapolis Friday night is Derrick John Thompson, the adult son of former DFL State Representative John Thompson.

Guess he should have followed Keith Ellison's son and rode daddy's coattails to a cush-cush shitty council job.

Wow, they better not give this guy preferential treatment because of his father - what a POS.

Man arrested in high-speed Minneapolis crash that killed 5 - KSTP.com 5 Eyewitness News

Minneapolis police confirm Derrick John Thompson, son of former state Rep. John Thompson, has been arrested in connection with a high-speed crash Friday night that killed five young women.

Thompson, 27, was taken into custody Monday afternoon on probable cause murder.

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty says she is reviewing the case to make a charging decision.

Court records show Thompson has a prior felony conviction from a 2018 hit-and-run that injured a woman in Montecito, California. He received an eight-year sentence in 2020 but was released from prison earlier this year.

Minnesota driving records also show Thomspon was arrested and convicted for fleeing a police officer in 2017. His driver’s license was eventually revoked, but records show it was reinstated on June 7, less than two weeks before Friday’s deadly crash.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS made numerous attempts to reach the Thompson family for comment. They have yet to respond.

Investigators say around 10:15 p.m. Friday, a driver ran a red light at the intersection of Lake Street and Second Avenue South before slamming into the car with five young women inside.

Police say Thompson got out of the car and ran off after the crash, but an officer eventually caught up to him and arrested him.

Thompson had been hospitalized since Friday night with injuries but is now well enough to be released and brought into custody.

The victims — Salma Abdikadir, Siham Adam, Sabiriin Ali, Sahra Gesaade and Sagal Hersi — were all between 17 and 20 years old. They were laid to rest Monday afternoon at Garden of Eden Cemetery in Burnsville.

If they would have kept him locked up for his full prison sentence this would not have happened. Families of the victims should be suing California for allowing an early release - if that is even possible.

100% agree.  This bullshit of letting him out early needs to backfire on the people that are doing it.

Another son of a democrat, like Hunter, that was given leniency because of the D after his name and look what happens.

Thompson, the son of former Minnesota state Rep. John Thompson, was arrested Monday afternoon and booked into Hennepin County Jail. It is unclear whether he has an attorney. (John Thompson did not respond to requests for comment.)

Derrick Thompson has a history of driving-related offenses, and his driver’s license had previously been revoked, according to court records. It had just been reinstated on June 7, and he was released from prison earlier this year, according to KSTP-TV in St. Paul. Thompson had been convicted in a hit-and-run crash in Montecito, California, that left a woman in a coma, KEYT-TV in Sanata Barbara, California, reported. In that incident, he refused to stop for a police officer, hit a pedestrian and fled the scene. In his car, police found more than 17 pounds of cannabis and over $20,000 in cash. He pleaded guilty to felony charges and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Why, did they have a gun while doing crack cocaine at hotel with a stripper?  Those are the people you support.  And remember Burisma was owned by another one of your oligarchs that paid hunter his millions in salary.

Jesus - you can see he hit the brakes right at the moment of impact.  He must have been high as fuck, which will certainly be his defense.
