Yes gravity has some unknowns but that doesn't mean we don't know enough about it to measure it and predict it extremely accurately. Is that where your whole flat earth belief comes from that gravity cannot completely be explained? I mean besides scientists and every govt has been lying to us for hundreds if not thousands of years. I mean this debate is not one like global warming. There is likely not one accredited scientist in the entire world that believes the flat earth nonsense. Think about that for a second. Human nature being that of one of both conformity and individualism you don't think many would be screaming from the mountain tops about the earths true shape? Many scientists don't conform to the push for MMGW even at their own financial peril after being ostracized by others. When it comes to the rotation of the atmosphere you are also ignoring Newton's laws of motion as well as others such as those around friction besides that of gravity. Let me ask you this do you believe the laws around motion and friction have been proven scientifically? Here's how measuring the angle of the North Star (Polaris) is actually a direct indication of your latitude (within a degree or so): At the North Pole, the latitude is 90 degrees, so Polaris is very close to 90 degrees, straight overhead. In Miami, Florida, the latitude is 25.7 degrees, so Polaris is about 25.7 degrees above the horizon. At the Equator, the latitude is 0, so Polaris would be very close to 0 degrees, at the horizon. South of the Equator, Polaris cannot be seen, so other targets are used to determine latitudes in the southern hemisphere. This is easy to understand. It's verifiable and repeatable. Anyone north of the Equator with a sextant (or cell phone sextant app, or even a homemade clinometer made from a plastic protractor) can take their own measurement of Polaris to determine their latitude. Now for the flat Earth: The flat-earthers usually agree on the Azimuthal equidistant projection map with the North Pole in the center. The AE map has every degree of latitude equaling about 69 miles which is the same as the globe (because some things are just too undeniable to deny). They usually say that Polaris is directly above the flat Earth, on the dome maybe about 3,100 miles up.
