Mag6240
Experts say pandemic triggered global microchip shortage, revealed problem for the US | KSTP.com This is hilarious - the last sentence of the article is the D senator from MN saying what our former President was trying to say for 4 years - but no one could get past Orange Man Bad: "It would help to bring contracts that are now in China back to America," the senator said. "We should be inventing things and exporting things to the world. That's what this is all about." 1 1
Platinum Contributing Member Highmark Posted June 18, 2021 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted June 18, 2021 Supply chains are ran so tight these days simple hiccups can cause large problems not to mention what is going on with microchips. irv
Currently GM is in the same boat as most come from Taiwan. Due to the Global warming drought there, it has impacted the chip manufacturing. Funny, when Taiwan normally sees global warming hurricanes, monsoons and heavy rains, which also impacts chip manufacturing, they also use that as an excuse. https://www.industryweek.com/supply-chain/article/21161812/taiwans-worst-drought-in-decades-deepens-chip-shortage-jitters

Same when it's too wet. The chip trees are goldilocks trees and need conditions to be juussst right. LoL

They told us to keep our old globes. Apparently, they are creating a bracket to use the old globes on the new models with the built in style. There is a little irony to the issue. Customers were going to be "forced" to go with the latest guidance and subscriber package. Now, we are told to keep the old version.
Matt
TSMC and Intel are both investing tens of billions in new factories here in AZ. That will help stabilize supply chains somewhat longer term, especially if China decides to roll Taiwan. But a lot of this stuff the auto makers brought on themselves. They canceled a bunch of orders when the pandemic hit so the chip manufacturers gave their production slots to other industries. Now the auto makers are complaining about shortages. Oops. 1

I just put the autosteer harness in this tractor last fall, borrowed a reciever for the spring off a shared combine. Wasn't the issue of an itc reciever not working anymore for us at least.
