Doug Posted April 18, 2021 Share Posted April 18, 2021 I live for snowmobiling. The first ride I had was in 1968 by a classmates dad in a field in town. Nobody in my direct family was into snowmobiling so I guess I branched out a little. About 5-6 years ago I owned 13 sleds and a lot of NOS Polaris parts but have trimmed that down to 6 sleds and sold some parts. Currently have 4 limited build, one with an aftermarket motor and 2 current trail sleds. A guy in our club always had a camera at all our events. She said the resorts, derby track and town were really happy with the turn out and the way the events went for both snowcross races. Doug Posted April 19, 2021 Author Share Posted April 19, 2021 Unusual grooming request. Our club president has some ties with EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) grounds manager. EAA has a small annual winter fly in that there had been some issues in the past on the landing strip. 2 years ago we got asked to come over and groom the landing strip for the event. My niece got married in Sedonna outside wedding amongst the mountains. Like you said beautiful area. She said she will never move back to Wisconsin. Sometimes we have 15-20 people in there just having a good time talking about the old days, races gone by, etc. Hours at a time. Doug Posted April 23, 2021 Author Share Posted April 23, 2021 Back in 1999 SnowGoer ran an article who was going to be the 5 manufacture being Fast, Scorpion or Redline. All had made some sleds and they're floating around but Fast gave it the best effort. Now we're just hoping to keep the manu factures we have today. Ie how fast is it setting up when it dose is it that Rock hard wind blown Albany stuff or more mashed potatoes? . Already stiff during snow fall or that puffy steamboat pow etc? Doug Posted May 2, 2021 Author Share Posted May 2, 2021 In 1989 we were still reading plugs and piston wash for what to change jetting to and once you got through your run you were pulling the chock and blipping the throttle to get fuel in the cool things down. In 1989 snow week had a small article where Dave Edwards showed up with a computer on his sled. It didn't really tune anything but monitored Motor RPM, Jack shaft and drive shaft RPM, exhaust temp and fuel pressure. You still had to manually change jets. Today you have guys that have never road a sled developing/adding a tune if you want to deviate from the factor tune. Lots of steep and deep if you want to get into trouble!!Hopefully I will get back out there and spend a week!! Local said riding consists of 123miles north to south and about 45 miles wide.
