Covid-19 far less deadly than we are being told.

:news:  They use modeling and estimates to come up with influenza numbers why not the same with Covid-19?

Columbia University study suggests upwards of 120 million people have already been infected in the US by Feb.   This makes the mortality rate significantly lower.  Around 1/2 of 1% total.   Funny how this article doesn't even consider that angle.

One-third of the U.S. population has already been infected.

The sustained periods of high transmission in the U.S. also mean that by now, quite a large share of the U.S. population has been infected beyond what the tallies of reported cases would indicate. Nationwide, Shaman estimates that about 120 million people have now been infected, just over a third of the U.S. population.

Shaman found that early in the pandemic testing was only capturing one out of 10 actual new infections — this is in line with estimates by researchers with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These studies include several that extrapolated from blood sampling that looked for antibodies for the coronavirus — which is evidence of prior infection. They suggested that the numbers of actual infections were 10 times higher than reported.

This has been known for quite a while. You can’t compare flu numbers to covid numbers as the game has completely changed since 2020. They actually seldom even test for the flu here because there’s no point.

and yes the covid death rate in reality is likely about .5% which was predicted by experts at least a year ago. The WHO said 3% and them being so incredibly wrong is what helped get us into this anti science mess.

Yep just re-affirming with more recent data.

You know what’s interesting is how “people who believe in science” won’t even consider the new data over their empty platitudes.

New data states younger less or non vaccinated people are where the higher rates are. Elderly and people with conditions were vaccinated months ago.

You are far more likely to die from second hand cigar smoke than covid.  Also how well does the mask filter out cigar smoke, yah but the virus.

Will you stop smoking?

I will when second hand smoke is contagious.

Yes!!!  The new data suggests that as old people get the shot,  the Rona has been forced to prey on the less desirable youth.  Think of the virus as a mosquito. When it encounters someone wearing repellent it flies past them and bites the closet person not wearing repellent.   It’s all very scientific.  Hard for the layman to take in.

The only thing people are going to see is the npr headline saying the pandemic is 10 times worse than we thought.

Yep when in reality the article could be written with the headline....."Pandemic 10 times less deadly than we thought."
