Torsion Springs

I'll be snowchecking a MY22 650 XCR 136 tomorrow.  Question my last Poo, 2020 850 Indy XC 850 137, I put .375 torsion springs on it.  Looks like the part# changed?????

I see when I build a MY22 XCR the part numbers are Extra Heavy 2884975 and heavy 2884974.  Which are what?  are the 975's .405 and the 974's .375's?????????

I need to look at this closer, but I kept my HD springs from my VR1 that I had PLANNED to use this past season.  I think the HD's are the .375's from what I remember and the XHD are the .405's.  I've got too much going on this AM to go look but I'll try to confirm ASAP

Looking out there when you build a 22 XCR the extra heavy is part# 2884975 and the heavy is 2884974 either of which tell you if their .375's or .405's.  I'm assuming its a kit with those part #.  When I look at the 2021 torsion #'s they are used on the 2022 XCR, but they come up .375 for one and .375s for the other, if I remember correctly.

I'll be at the dealer tomorrow morning and I'll get the low down then.

I bought a pair of HD springs for my VR1 850 this year and installed them rite away and rode about 4 or 500 miles on them and ended up taking them out, it rode like a dump truck, when I took them out it was fine even with my cam on medium, I had my rear blocks on high so maybe that helped, I had all the shocks on stock settings too, 2021 VR1 137 850

Hey ... good to see ya Tut!!  Just curious ... would you weigh greater than 250 but less than 300 pounds (if you don't mind me asking)?  I'm interested because I had actually purchased the HD springs too, but never got a chance to use them on my VR1 and kept them around after selling it in January.

Bontz  I'm 350 all day, I needed them on last years indy 137 but not this years 137, I do bottom out once in awhile but you should if you want it to ride smooth on the studder bumps ,I ride mostly groomed trails anyway but never had a problem in the rough stuff after I took them out, the velocity shocks made a big difference this year is my thinking

Going with the .375’s at a minimum on the ‘21 Indy 137 that I’m getting. The velocity shocks make a HUGE difference even over the Walkers, from what I’ve felt riding a sled with both. Hoping I can limp along the Polaris IFPs that are on this Indy for a year or so. Going to have the oil changed in the rears when I put the springs in.

So if someone gets the chance to decipher which p/n is which thickness spring, that would be great.

see #14 for your sled https://www.babbittsonline.com/oemparts/a/pol/60073ea787a8661ed4786a6b/suspension-torque-arm-rear

fwiw in the Axys XCR for 'terrain' ;)  (98% positive the 2019 XC had the same suggested parts and settings)

Rear torsion: 13lin/lbs@80degree torsion springs 7045208-329 & 7045207-329

I ended up going with the HD torsion springs, part# 2884974 when you build the XCR on line, when I ordered my XCR.  I specified to the dealer I wanted the .375's he not only called their parts dept at that dealership but also their parts dept at their other store.  I was told the 2884974's, kit part# are the .375's, I go 300lbs

OK I'm confused as fuck here.  The attached says the 2884974's are stock when you look up that part number on the Polaris website and the 2884976 are rated for riders 220-350 WTF? Two conflicting charts from Polaris attached.

See parts catalog shows those at the .375/80’s for my sled which would be the heaviest spring offered. The 7045209-329’s are the .375/70’s. Second number should be the angle difference, in degrees of course, between the two ends of the spring.

Glad to see you e-mailed (and got a response back from) Polaris.  One of my biggest concerns this time of the year is what's correct & what isn't when it comes to their online parts info.  Even their owner's manuals have been known to contain wrong (old) information.  I can't remember if it was my 2015 or my 2016, but one of them I remember looking at something in the owner's manual and it was clearly a "carry over" item from the Pro-Ride chassis and was WRONG.  Hopefully they've given a bit more focus on simple stuff like that.

  • 1 year later...

BUMP on this old thread! I am in the process of looking for HD springs for my '22 VR-1. I am 300lbs (without my suit/helmet) and need to upgrade my springs. I suspect that the XHD's will be way overkill.

Given that the Velocity shocks are not rebound adjustable, do I need to do some revalving? Will I run in to some "bucking" issues or rear end pitching?

Frankly- my race days are way over.....I am looking for a compliant trail ride with the only occasional need to ride aggressively......

It has been a year since this thread was started. I am hoping to learn from those that have a year under their belts with the HD/XHD options.
