D&D Sno Pro 500/720

  • Gold Donating Member

Thought I'd start a separate page of information specific to the D&D Sno Pro 500/720 as I've just gone through all the legwork and expense and it's fresh in my brain.  There were a lot of phone calls, emails, shipping and investigation involved so hopefully this helps others down the road.

I plan to update/edit this post over time.

You can no longer (at this time) get pistons or cylinders for this engine from Wiseco or D&D but the guy I worked with is looking into having 720 pistons made again.  If you have a 720 and happen to destroy a cylinder skirt (common) private message me and I will provide you with contact information for cylinder repair and pistons.

Here's a list of specific parts required to do the top end, miscellaneous parts and additions I did and at this point would suggest.

Also, it's crucial to have the proper Boondocker settings which vary based on year, ECU programming and power valves (see below)

  • It was a rebuild, so 135hp+ with fuel and oil injection in the best chassis Cat has ever made - imo. Birch Point was the only company that ever offered an 800 stuffed into this chassis and those

  • Great job, and really appreciate you doing the leg work and sharing all this hard-earned info.  I suppose the way it sounds, at 3500ish miles, I ought to maybe think about rounding up what I can

Country Cat... couldn't wait for anyone else.  They had 'more than 5' in stock.

2008-2015 600 SX & XC gearing clutching from Cat just for reference.

going to try a 19/40 combo this year as 20/39 is just a bit too steep and isn't quite getting me where I want to be...  ¬¬

Edit:  19/40 gearing is in.  Now I need snow to check and adjust the clutching.

Any of you guys with sno pros have a front bumper you'd be willing to sell or know someone who might have 1? I have a friend that bought a 500 for his kid and can't find a bumper anywhere

no... :roflcrying:

front bumpers, snow flaps and mid height windshields are nearly impossible to find and when they come up for sale they're gone quickly.  I'm looking at making windshields and into having bumpers (Fett style) made up to sell.  Snow flaps from PDP designs work.  https://provendesignproducts.com/product/arctic-cat-race-legal-snowflap-09-11/

Yeah that's what he's finding out. He's a pretty good fabricator, plans on trying a few different bumper designs of his own if he can't find 1 to buy

@Cat45... be sure to have him remove the secondary and check the jackshaft bearing.  super common issue and can wipe out both clutches if left alone when shot.  it's the weakest link in the whole sled... a cheap conveyor belt bearing at best.  9_9
