The only reason i sold my 1999 XLT Special was because i was worried about the water pump. Love the flat slide carbs and it handled like on rails. Doug Posted December 13, 2020 Share Posted December 13, 2020 What's the deal with the water pump. This is the XLT motor with an external water pump yet. The earlier XLT's had a steel inlet tube in an aluminum housing that would sometimes leak until everything was up to temperature. If there's an issue just replace that water pump. The XCR 600, 700 and 800 triple, triple piped had internal water pumps that a bearing would need to be replaced. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
