Wow ... haven't seen those temps in awhile 👍. And Davis is very good....have had 2 of those over the years.

I remember being in Old Forge when I first got a camp there in 1994....and we hit -40 in one of those first years of being there . The state record is -52 if not mistaken.

I remember going outside and hearing the trees crack like somebody hitting them with a baseball bat when temps got down to -20 and below with the air very still .

Didn't experience those temps very often in the later years being there.

Davis makes great stuff. Rob had the same unit that I have. He was also a NWS observer. The NWS provided him with analog equipment that he used to report to them. He said his Davis weather station read the same as the NWS stuff.

-20s isn't unusual for around here. That was the second time this season that we have been into the-20s. The -24⁰ on December 9th the first.

We have hit the -30s here a few times with -35⁰ being the coldest. That's fucking cold....I don't care who you are, LOL.

I know what you mean about trees cracking. One of the times it got into the -30s we had what I call a frost quake accompanyed with a loud pop. There is another technical name for it, but I can't remember.

Yeah, I remember the Davis instruments were very accurate when I had them. Same readings as official postings for my area. Top notch for sure 👍

We were up there for one of the negative 30 something days...coldest I have ever experienced.

I had a friend who went to McMurdo base in Antarctica years back to work and he talked about the guys who were members of the 300 club. I guess they'd wait until the temp hit -100 outside and sit in a sauna at 200 then they'd head outside for a period of time before returning the the sauna.

We just recently warned up. Highs have been in the 20's the past few days. Next week it is supposed to get up into the -30s.

Thanks! I also did a few vertical panoramas. In the first one a few sleds are sitting there taking in the sunset. The second they are spread out and moving toward town.

Which one do you guys like better?

I thought there were a lot of people playing hooky yesterday when I saw a ton of sleds at the pavilion in town. Turns out that there was a fish fry with Governor Scott in attendance.

Fish and Wildlife had an ice fishing display out on the lake.
