Got a rare one in today

IMG_20230508_112244745_HDR.jpg

There is a husband and wife that are in their late 50's I believe up here in the Edmonton Alberta area that bought two of those brand new back in the day. One silver one red. They have been daily driving them since. All year round. Rain, shine , snow doesn't matter.

Edit: I guess he bought one in 2013. Not brand new. But between him and his wife they have 4 and they daily drive them

I went to visit a friend in my hometown of Tamworth, NH last week. Mt Chocorua is visible from many locations around town. Here it is rising above Chocorua Lake.

That's the cool thing about them, you can legit drive them since they are a Honda. The one we got today has 89,000 miles on it, doesn't drive it in the winter, but it's his summer daily driver.

Ok here are a few picks from my last Madagascar trip. Didn't want to post any until I was sure my bro in law was going to survive his bad crash.

Getting started.

No shit hey

We were still close to town and they were escorting us out of the city when it happened. They just threw another rim and tire on and away we went.

Never having been to Madagascar, how are the locals? I'd be nervous about getting robbed or worse.  Glad your BIL is doing better.  Oh, and whats with that helmet?  No full face?!  :bc:

Locals are pretty good. Especially in the smaller vliages. We had a phone stolen this trip. Probably a pick pocket. I've never felt nervous in Madagascar. Compared to other places it's very laid back.

I'll probably start wearing a full face again  after this trip.

Cool stuff Steve.  I give you a bunch of credit for taking on an adventure like that.  I had an old racing buddy, who wanted to do a bike tour in Vietnam, where his dad fought in the war, but never took him up on it.  I hear that it is beautiful. You’re giving me the urge to go out and ride my dirtbike more.

Go for it! Time only speeds up when you get older and next thing you know it will be to late.

I know.  That is the same rationale I used for just buying another boat lol. I raced motocross competitively until I was 54 years old, and always said that I wanted to walk away from the sport and not get carried away.  Dont you guys get a little nervous about lack of medical care access out in some of these remote locations?  that would be my biggest fear.

Well I don't really worry about much of anything on these trips. These are 3rd world countries and I mean 3rd world. You are basically throwing caution to the wind. If you're worried about medical care you best not go. My bil is still hoping we can go on the Australian trip we had in the works for the fall. Where he's at right now health wise I'm thinking 2024 will be more realistic.

God bless your brother-in-law, after those injuries. One of my racing buddies broke his neck, one year, and a couple years later, drop dead of a heart attack on the track, and they had to paddle him back to life a half a dozen times.  The son of a bitch is still racing lol. I also give you credit on some of that equipment they got you riding, I became a bit of a suspension snob after all that racing.   How fresh are these off brand bikes when you get them?  You’re a pretty big boy, and so am I, and I would be afraid I would be bottoming out and clanking that thing off the stops every other bump. 😆

Better to die doing something you love than doing nothing at all. Very cliche I know.

These bikes were brand new. Bajaj Boxer out of India. Good quality. Most of the national hwys are comparable to a railway grade on a Sunday night. You stand up alot if you want to carry any kind of pace. You don't want to ride at night if you don't have to.

I hear ya.  That is pretty cool. I still love the strap on the saddlebags and travel 800 to 1500 miles on my snowmobile, my favorite kind of riding. Got to do that this winter a couple of times.  Years  of racing motocross and lots of six dollar plastic trophies.  Now I am into boating, but I still have a love of dirt bikes and motorcycles in general for more than 50 years.  :bc:

Wicked nice resort.  We had our annual meeting there a few years ago.  A bunch of us were playing golf and a friggin bear comes walking up the fairway.  The views....all of it.  Just a beautiful spot.
