Zero emission Natural Gas Plant

Recommended Posts

I don't know if you guys have heard of this thing but it is up and running now and is backed by one of the largest electricity generation companies in the country. As usual this is happening in Texas.

Trump humpers.

This project dates back to 2014. The take away here should be that this works now and it does so with off the shelf tech that is ready to go.  If you read the article they are talking a unit in the 300Mw range that does not require cooling water (ie being built by a river or coast).   Excelon is one of the largest generators in the country so this could be a real thing not just a experimental exercise.

You do understand that trump’s promise to bring back coal was for votes? Right?

Yes but coal is on the rise in south america and of course China.  The US has basically only been building Natural Gas plants for almost 20 years and unless newer design Nuke plants get built it will stay that way.  the Coal plants in the US are aging and will time out but the Coal it self will always have a market.  And that coal when it gets burned will not be in a "Scrubber" plant like we have in the states it will be burned in a old design coal plant with little or no restrictions.

You do understand that Obama and Hillary promised to kill Coal in the US for political gains right?

The idea of killing coal politically is a sound and admirable approach. It not only is friendly to the environment, but is in synch with economic realities. Next?

It is plain up pandering to the IPhone 50 year old with a pony tail brick over pizza social media crowd like yourself.  Has nothing to do with Reality.

Reality is that coal is dirty and expensive compared to renewables and NG. 800,000 jobs in 1929. 80,000 today. The handwriting has been on the wall for 80 years. Next.

Sure tell it to China. they will be adding more Coal Plants in the next ten years.  And just for and added bit of good news those plants are all based off of designs made here back in the 50s. dirty as a Hooker after a week of shore leave.

Just so we are clear Net power generated by coal is not going down in fact it is skyrocketing. But at least you felt better when Obama and Hillary made you feel morally superior about putting a few miners out of a job.

I was wondering if they thought about what this will do to the economy of a few southern states. Places where poverty and finding work is a huge problem already. Tell me again how the dems are for the poor and middle class.

You would think that a Zero Emission Gas plant prototype would be something California would be all over but No this whole project happened in Texas.  It would have taken ten more years to get this project off the ground due to state regulations. It is why California has an energy problem and Texas has it's own energy policy and even runs its own electrical grid that is a world standard.

They don’t cross network with any other state or group of states. They’ve also invested heavily into wind. Electricity generated from wind is so plentiful in Texas that it’s sometimes free. They have a co-op type system that only works because they don’t cross network to other grids outside the state. They are quickly phasing out coal and moving to a carbon free energy production state. Over 30% of their energy is carbon free.
