dunno if its been played, threads 467 pages not about to go through it all, but this song and this band is so underrated it makes me sick a little.

was a kid of the 90's , and while alot of stuff like nirvana was huge , i always found lyrically , they were pretty weak and nonsensical.

this band, alice in chains, was head and shoulders above them lyrically and just in general, superior muscians,.

layne staley in his prime before he met his end , and serious steep decline into drug addiction that eventually destroyed him, was one of the best rock singers of any generation imo. his lyrics, although alot , were written by also super talented rock god jerry cantrell,, chronicled his fall into addiction, his struggle , and warning of not to follow in his footsteps, are nothing short of chilling when you see how he finally died of it.

anyways, heres a one off off there arguably best album dirt'.the songs called rooster' and was written by cantrel for his father who served in vietnam.his father was so impressed with how close to home it hit, he agreed to be in the music video.

anyways, this is epic as fuck and hits me right in the feels.

this is art, folks.

this is them live in there prime before staley went full on junkie.the power in this guys voice was really something back in 1991.

this is a live shot for the soundtrack for 'singles',a movie back then.

first song was written for the lead singer of mother love bone (later on pearl jam when they added eddie vedder). he had just signed a major record deal and was set to be the first real big band to make it in the seattle grunge scene....and then died of a heroine overdose. his name was andrew wood, and the first song performed here was called 'would?' in his honour.it also feels in retrospect when knowing what later becomes of stayley, the most creepy forshadowing ever.

the second song is a heavy almost more metal sounding song off aic's first album faceliift, which was also badass.

anyways, enjoy.

Layne was great.👍🏼

the goat ' of the grunge scene imo. cornell might be a octave higher in range, but layne had the power.

this from live at the moore' is a song off facelift.lyrics pretty offputting, and slow moving , but check out the range 5:20. mark.thats some fucking pipes right there.

this is a solo song from the alice in chains ' lead guitarist jerry cantrell.hes released several solo albums over the years , as well as a few aic albums after laynes death in 2002 with a new lead singer william.this one 'atone' is from this years album.

bit of a departure from the heavy as fuck alice in chains early days, but good none the less.cantrells 98' album degradation trip was fucking awesome as well, super heavy and dark.i love it.

anyways, heres atone' from this years album.

and one from an earlier album, degradation trip.this shit is hard as fuck.made it in 98', he locked himself in his house for 30 days and all he did was write 30 songs. 15 of which were selected for his solo album.several songs you can tell was directed at the frustraition he had with layne becoming a recluse and quitting the band, to just fall deeper into heroine addiction and rotting away.

later in 2002 , they found the 6'1 stayley dead in his apartment. he was 86 lbs at the time.they found him dead with a syringe of speedball in his arm , and sitting on top of several syringes.

anyways, this is one of those songs directed at layne on this album.

this video was fan made years after, as locked on ' wasnt a video single from the album, but is so fucking heavy.

One of my favorites….

solid choice.that album with the screaming trees guys was great. long gone days , wake up , theres a bunch of good stuff on there.

they were going to make a second mad season record but the bassiest barrett martin died of a overdose before they had the chance then it all kinda fell apart as layne had deterriorated so badly after.shame.

i think they left alot on the table. that first mad season stuff they jammed 3 or 4 days, before there first show, forgot all the lyrics and layne made em on the spot, live at the moore. woulda been interesting had they took a year and made a real well prepared album.
