  1. The tree that our temporary hydro/meter/box is on snapped just above the hydro lines. The wife pointed out a tree she wants down and the wind took care of that one. There are at least 8 more big ones I want taken down.
  2. Some Tesla owner waited till the restaurant closed then plugged hehe car in. 16 hours later it was still plugged in and the restaurant owner blocked the car in so he couldn't leave without at least paying something.
  3. I think roughly 60mph at the moment. It's supposed to calm down then pick up over night.
  4. We're 35 min sw of Halifax and it's picking up here and apparently bad farther west and heading this way
  5. It's churning up and once it gets to high tide it'll get worse. The road had rocks/debris on it but now it's unpassable. Our hydro is out so we're mooching at the son's place.
  6. I think we got the wind a little earlier than expected here in Nova Scotia and it's nasty already. We lost power earlier and it's back on at the moment so we rushed to make coffee. A shitload of emergency vehicles went by on the hwy .
  7. Fiona missed us here last year where we are in Nova Scotia and now waiting for Lee. They poured the basement walls this morning and took down all the scaffolding and battened down any material. It's raining now and we'll see what comes our way.
  8. Lots of tirekickers but finally SOLD! I paid $42K just over 3 years ago and sold it today for $43K. More money for the wife's new kitchen lol
  9. They're saying it'll be a tropical storm at the moment somewhere west of us and up into New Brunswick. We escaped Fiona last year in our area whereas alot of other areas got hit pretty bad.
  10. Wife has the crockpot doing it's thing. She makes a great beef stew but is trying some other recipe ( stewing beef, spices etc etc) and says we can have it over mashed taters. Love having comfort food and the house smells great.
  11. That was quite common lol I remember the the black/white or black/ red board erasers flying by.
  12. Wife had it a couple weeks ago in a restaurant. It was awesome and we bought the wine and she made it here at home. Looking forward to having it again
  13. Montreal smoked meat on rye with some mustard. Been craving for a nice thick sandwich.
  14. I used to get up at 3:45am for more years than I can remember and when I retired for about a week or two I found myself starting to sleep a little longer each day. I get up around 7:00-8:00 am everyday now and other than my health issues I just putter around now and try and do what I can. We basically get up,have our coffee and something to eat and go out for a scenic drive along the ocean route here and just enjoy being alive. If you can take what you can as life is short.
  15. We have a 12 year old granddaughter and an 11 year old grandson. We won't look after the pair at the same time. They fight like crazy and the moods from them is unreal. We've never seen anything like it.
  16. We are into week 3 of the build and it's coming along. I have a pending sale of the motorhome depending on the certification on Friday. The wife says we can spend more money lol
  17. I took my CPP ( Canada Pension Plan) at a small reduced rate at age 60 and Old Age Security at 65 and retired at 66. By working till 66 the CPP still increased and for 6 years I made sure I put money into RRSP"S to save on some tax money. I never touched any of that money and had a little nest egg saved up.
  18. We sold last Sept in Ont and rented a place here till the house is built
  19. Very little snow here and a 4.5 hour trailer to Cape Breton or New Brunswick. We can go out in the sxs on the trails here during the winter
  20. Our grandkids are a 5 min walk from our place that's why ended up here.
  21. There's a beautiful lot not far from here that's all treed but level 3.67 acres the son has listed for $49K. It's not on water but would make a great building lot
  22. We were quoted $30K for the kitchen alone and the wife said she didn't think that was enough lol
  23. There's plenty of properties here in Nova Scotia. We bought the lot (1 acre) for $46K two years ago with deeded access to the lake and have a monster dock and our pontoon there
  24. Builders are hard to find here in NS that you can trust. We've known him for 10 years and he only has a small crew but has all the trades he needs. We got a decent quote and he said if we go over that then we have exquisite tastes lol.
  25. We're 1470sq ft with a 24x24 garage. 2 bdrm,2 bthrm with 2 covered porches and one will be screened in. Basement will be the mancave/party room
