  1. I have Linq bags on 2021 137" Launch. I have the stackable 3 gal gas can (I use this to carry oil for 2 sleds when we are saddle bagging) and 2 luggage bags. You will need a bracket from Up North Technologies or some similar supplier to be able to mount the Linq brackets to the Matryx tunnel. If you are buying "new" style Linq bags you will need to make sure that you get Linq brackets to mount on your sled. I am pretty sure that starting last year BRP sold their sleds with the Linq brackets already mounted to the tunnel. Ask the BRP dealer you buy them from if the brackets are included with the luggage or not. I dont have pics at the moment or I would send them along. Pretty sure it wont be hard to find pictures of the different combination of bags that can be used.
  2. We got same emails for the wife's 650 VR1. Good news is the throttle stop switch was fine and I am sure our coolant hose wont be an issue either. I didnt take it back to the dealer for the hose but did talk to them about it. They showed me where the issue was on a sled they had in the shop. When I got home I pulled the can off the sled and checked. I couldnt see if the marks on the hoses lined up or not but there is a good bit of room between the hose and the starter bracket so I think we are good to go. I did buy and brass coupler and 2 hose clamps so that if t does wear through I will just cut the hose and splice it. Add antifreeze and we will be good to go. Build date on the sled is 09/08/2021. Didnt get the sled till January 2022!!! Would like an explanation on that bit of info!!
  3. I am wondering same with my wife's 650 VR1. Sled was ordered late March. Build date is 09/08/2021 . Delivered to our dealer here in Ontario on January 6 2022. Dealer said all they needed to add to it was the 7S gage which the dealer had BEFORE Christmas. I would surely love to know the story behind this. Dealer says he cant tell me anymore than we already know.
  4. Great topic Irv! I have a few questions on this topic as well. I have a 2015 Impala and tow with it. I am always concerned with transmission temps when towing and how it affects the life of the transmission fluid. My old Grand Prix has a Transmission Temp readout so you can monitor the temp you are running at. The Impala does not have this feature. What do you recommend for transmission oil changes if using the car to tow with? What transmission temp is considered too high? I have 93K....in km on ours and had the transmission flushed once at about 80K as I was concerned with the fluid because of the towing. Transmission shifts fine and has not given any indication of a problem.
  5. What you are posting about was my biggest fear when I bought my Opti 2 years ago. Great motors when they are running well but if something goes wrong I think you need a dealer who really knows their stuff. That engine seems so complicated with the air compressor and fuel injectors and that three stage fuel pump. I know here in Ontario getting a dealer who really knows something about an Opti is a pretty tall order. Lots of dealers like to talk but when you speak to the mechanic you find out they have hardly ever seen the inside of an Opti much less actually solved an issue with one. I see that Team Marine Service has a few videos out on V6's and they talk about Opti's. Have no idea if they are good or not but they talk a good talk on Youtube. You have thrown a lot of money at that motor already. Hope you find someone that can solve the issues for you. Best of luck getting it fixed quickly.

    Fishing gear

I have several Ugly Sticks. Medium action, light and an Ultra Light as well. I also like the Shimano rear drag reels. They are super easy to adjust the drag when you are fighting a fish. I usually use my Ultra Light's when fishing for bass or walleye. They make it a bit of a challenge once in a while to set the hook but you fee like you caught a whale each time you get one!!
  7. This is a slick home made groomer drag. Wish I could weld. Would love to be able to make something like that for my local area here. Great Job!!
  8. Great. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I appreciate your help in understanding the requirements.
  9. Ok well I have just a couple more questions on producing paperwork if stopped. Never really thought of this until I was made aware of our friends situation. I am sure this have probably been covered before somewhere on these 28 pages so I apologize if its redundant. We have 2 sleds and keep the paperwork for the sleds in our jacket pockets all the time. We have on occasion had times when my wife will go out with a friend and borrow my sled and sometimes I will go out with a buddy who will use my wife's sled. In these situations we would be missing the paperwork for one for the sleds should we be stopped. Both our sleds are covered by the same insurance policy and both sleds are shown on the insurance slips. Does each sled need to have a separate insurance slip or could we produce a single slip that indicates both sleds are covered on the same policy? As for the ownership, is a photocopy acceptable? If it is I guess we will have to give each other a copy of our sled's registration so one of us always have a copy of the other's sled with us at all times.
  10. Thanks for the response. I will relay the info. I dont believe they were planning to fight the tickets. They were confused about the private property thing. As you explained, on your own property you would not need the documents but once you are on someone elses property then you need the documentation. On the other item, I assume its up to the officer's discretion but I wonder "how far off " the stake line you would have to be running to be deemed "off" the trail??
  11. Hi Sean...was wondering if you could advise on the following. I have found out a buddy was stopped on a portage on a lake that has an OFSC trail on it. They were asked for ownership and insurance which they did not have on them at the time. These people live on the lake but were helping a neighbor doing construction on the lake so had their work clothes and no slips. The sleds did have insurance and ownerships which they advised the officer they would go and get and bring back to the the officer. (One person would stay on site with the officer and the other would go and return with the slips). Their cottage on the lake was 10 minutes from where they were stopped. They were issued 4 tickets in total for 2 sleds so about $450 in fines. Are you required to carry these slips at all times even if you are on a lake? On another note I am was under the impression that there are no speed limits for sleds on lakes. Is this true? Can you be issued a speeding ticket (above 50km) on a lake if there is an OFSC trail on the lake? Also what about a lake that does not have an OFSC trail on it. Can you still be issued a ticket for speeding? thanks for your time
  12. I know very little about being an electrician but while I was working with our IT dept our lead guy was fanatical about running clean "power" to anything computerized. He told me that if your furnace is of the newer variety and has a mother board you should protect it by running the generator thru a UPS before it gets to the furnace to protect the mother board in the furnace. I had the service manager from the local HVAC company echo the same but I really have no knowledge if this info is just being extra cautious or not. I know mother boards can be expensive if they need to be replaced.
  13. I got mine from Royal. They were less than $90 way back when. Cant really go wrong if you can get a pair of decent boots for that kind of money, even if they only last a couple of years.
  14. I have had a pair of these for about 6 years now. They are ready to be replaced. I would get another pair for sure. My feet got warmer when I switched the socks I was wearing as my feet dont sweat nearly as much anymore. The fact that they are as light as they are really appreciated at the end of a long day. I like a boot that fits snugly when I walk. The other thing I like is that they have a velcro strap so you dont have to struggle with laces. They go on quick.
  15. For sure you need to change the lower unit oil in the fall before anything freezes. if you had a seal let go and had water in your lower unit, it would freeze over the winter and crack the lower unit. I have seen that a few times over the years from cottagers who thought they would save a few bucks and not take it to the marina to have the work done. I had one year where on my 5 year old 150HP I pulled the plug on the lower unit and got nothing but water. Never seen that ever or since. Cant believe the lower unit never seized. Refilled it with fresh oil and over the winter took the lower unit to the marina to check. They did a pressure test and never found a leak. Did a total reseal of the lower unit anyway. Never had an issue for the rest of the time I had the motor.
  16. Place the 2 X 4 parallel with the transom and sticking out slightly on each side of the transom bracket. Not sure how many pistons are in your lift/trim system but I place the wood above the 2 trim pistons so it will be very tough to lose the wood unless you are on some really bumpy road. Nice boat by the way. Just curious how much does that motor weigh?
  17. I also trailer my boat from time to time but would not use the tilt support bracket while trailering. My manual also states not to use it to trailer. I have used a short piece of 2 X 4 placed between the motor and the motor transom bracket. Carefully place the wood and slowly lower the motor down so the wood is trapped securely between the motor transom bracket and the motor making sure it does not contact either of the trim or tilt rams of the motor transom bracket. Store the motor in the fully down position to ensure as much water as possible drains from the lower unit. I dont own a 4 stroke but I dont think you have to fog the motor because it is a 4 stroke. Change the oil in the motor and the lower unit as you have mentioned and you should be good to go for next year. If you tow your boat with the motor in the fully down position I would make sure it is left in forward gear while being towed. This will help to prevent prop from spinning freely as I have heard that this can cause premature failure of the lower unit seal over time.
  18. Ive purchased headlights for my GM at 77 Auto in Concord. They were less than half price of the dealer and were plug and play. He got them the same day I ordered them and picked them up the next day.
