  3. Yes its interesting how they have presented the data. They talk annual salary but avoid mentioning hourly wage or annual working hours .
  4. This has and will more so become a game of public support. Both sides while not outright lying are manipulating their language to more support their position. Their is much more on the table in addition to wage increase amount and the public is not aware of the full ramifications . Job security , benefits and working conditions etc. This is the case with most contract negotiations . Ford was shocked to learn that there was sjgnificant public and union support for CUPE. Nov. 15 scared the shit out of him . This support could easily slip through CUPE's hands and into Fords as well.
  5. I really do not know what the correct number should be . My feeling are that the collective bargaining process should be allowed to determine that.
  6. Who cares ? Lets just get back to the table and negotiate a fair deal for all. This is no time for posturing.
  7. As I stated before I agree 11.7 percent is unrealistic . However govt. offer is equally unrealistic. Both sides need to show some flexibility
  8. that is quite a paintbrush you are using . There are EAs admin etc . all play a role in keeping the schools open.
  9. correct ,..... both sides need to be reasonable and negotiate.
  10. cupe did not walk away from the table as Ford keeps insisting.
  11. As you said this all needs to be negotiated through legal and unobstructed collective bargaining at the table. Fords attempt to circumvent the process using the notwithstanding clause is inappropriate.
  12. agreed . I also feel the government offer is not enough. they need to find a middle ground.
  13. Show me something that backs up what your saying? zero public support is a strong assertion.
  14. Oh , I see . So the data you posted shows otherwise?
  15. I figured everyone would go quiet on this one .....
  16. We have been spoiled in North America for many decades enjoying low fuel costs as compared to the rest of the world. We have spent minimal resources on public transit, rail system etc. Many of us have arrogantly driven huge 4x4 v8 gas guzzling trucks back and forth to work. Not because we needed to but instead because we wanted to compensate for our undersize wiener. We typically avoid carpooling etc. because we are able to enjoy the freedom and convienience of operating our own personal rolling monstrosity equipped with every luxury imaginable . Grandpa never would have guessed the future would require a heated steering wheel? I am on the 401 every day with these huge trucks and SUV's more often than not carrying a single occupant . A close look at these vehicles would normally reveal a pristine ,unscratched and never used cargo area along with a driver that is very likely to have never ever in the trucks life shifted to 4x4 mode. No where else in the world has this mindset like us. Because of this our mass transit , bus rail etc is years behind the rest of the world . While other countries are embracing technologies like rapid rail , mag lev . etc . we are operating slow moving antiquated equipment on a minimal schedule . You can travel by rail fast seamlessly and easily through several countries in Europe in one trip. We cant even go Toronto to Kingston by rail as effortlessly. When our highways become congested we whine and complain and try to build more and more expensive higways many times on previously prime farmland to further the cause and for the sake of convienience. . Just like Dougs new highway. Even if everyone got on board and we were to start to update our infrastructure today we will be years catching up with everyone else .
  17. I doubt he was positive the first time. Just did not want to face the "small fringe minority"
  18. As I mentioned above , I have heard from a friend that he intends to continue running used parts plus
