Park Rapids is on the trails for 100 miles both days, popular trails at that, including crossing state and county highways and running a plowed forest service road. There is a core group in the PR area that helps to put that race together, including people from the local clubs. Other clubs want nothing to do with it, even if it only involves using their trails or a part of a trail for the weekend. There used to be lots of club racing in addition to series races back in the 90's. Within a couple hours of me there used to be at least 3, maybe 4 or 5 club hosted ice le mans as recently as pre-Vid. A lot has changed since then and part of it is the sponsorship dollars from areas to host races put on by the race series. Snox is the same way. They aren't trucking the whole show to NY or Deadwood for $0 up front to put on their races.
