Our latest "Off Trail" issue just came up yesterday. A farmer called to say sleds are running off the trail in his Winter Wheat field. Turns out its the land owners son! Can't make it up.....

We've had some new club members over the past couple years that have been helping out quite a bit. All have made comments that they never knew what was all involved with working with the landowners, putting trails in and out, brushing and other things clubs need to do to keep the trails open. They haven't had the pleasure of going out to talk to a justifiable pissed off landowner and work with them to keep the trail open on their land.

I'm in favor of impounding sleds caught riding off trail where it's not allowed, and serious fines for cans on trails too.

IMO polaris and cat make a dedicated xc racer, use that platform. the sx is geared for 70mph and isn't intended for extended periods of WOT that ovals requires. I hate to even mention this but the god damn soo sleds are what any new class should be. Super stock 600 sleds with bone stock engines twin pipes (for sound only) and open suspension. Its taken snocross 4 years but the fields are starting to reflect the stock class changes as we are running a 18 pro class field, a 30 pro lite field, a 34-37 sport field and just as many sport lite racers and aside from some things popping up - a tight enforcement on rules has keep the classes going and growing. ovals needs to do something because its still fading and the shit we did in 72 mentality isn't fixing it.

But, it's not just about the noise and more about the disrespect of people given the right to ride trails on private property and in some cases blatantly dissrespecting the wishes of the property owners who give them that right. Article mentioned a deep laceration. Ewwwff. A lot of it just comes down to knowing the conditions, your equipment and how to drive. Bridges are notorious for freezing up even if the roads aren't. In sketchy conditions I just try to not make any lane shifts or do anything aggressive at the wheel, in case it breaks loose. Leave a bunch of distance for stopping, and going ez on the brakes, etc.. Sometimes, the wind will just fuck with your world and all bets are off. I was following a guy last winter up 201 towards Jackman, and the roads had a low sheen on them, so you know they were a little slippery. Went to make a pass on a pickup (no trailer on the back btw),and got almost along side and the ass end started breaking loose. So I just backed it down and decided to follow. Like 5 minutes later, his ass end just broke loose and he lost it, friggin truck went right, bounced off the bank, then onto the opposite back, then rolled like 3-4 times. Guy was ok, helped him out of his upside down truck, he was , but I felt bad cuz I was afraid I might have pushed him to drive faster by trying to pass him. previously.

I've told this before - my son was following a Twitter handle about 4-5 years ago "ProudSocialist" and started whining to me about how Jeff Bezos shouldn't be allowed to have all that money, it should be shared and blah blah blah. I told him after a few of his bullshit meme's he sent me, that nobody, NOBODY on that phone is going to give you one red cent! You need to get up and get out there and go do it for yourself! You have every opportunity anyone else did (To a point of course) to go make something for yourself, take care of yourself, and work hard for the things you want. 4-5 years later, he's paid off all his college loans he started with, took some specialized training, and got into a great position working hard and making money and is all on his own in that short period of time. Bought and paid cash for the car he is driving ($16k), and even has the "go for it" attitude to do his own maintenance and upgrades he wants to it. He's 24 now, and I couldn't be more proud of how he has turned his thinking around and grabbed the bull by the horns for himself in just a few years. Get out there and do something, don't expect anyone to give you shit.
