  1. We've been working remote since March of 2020 and literally, just received the notification yesterday that we can return if we're vaccinated & wear a mask while in the building (don't even get me started on that level of stupidity). My wife had her office space pretty much eliminated, and she's now considered a "WFH" (work from home) employee, permanently. She has to reserve a "mobile desk" if she needs to go into work now. As far as politicians go ... I wish they'd be forced to work from a deserted island and get wiped out by a f'ing hurricane. I'm so god damn sick of DC. There needs to be an ultimatum put in place to those assholes ... either balance the budget by 202x or you're out. And you all will play by the same rules the President does ... 2 terms and you're out. No more of this career politician bullshit. Rant over

  2. Healthcare and utilities are two good points he made. Our healthcare situation is absurd and unsustainable. We get ripped off on utilities on as well, for reasons he pointed out. You are right though that Americans live in excess. There are cultural issues in this country, “keeping up with the Joneses”. People who we don’t even know, but we still want to impress them. I’m glad I learned to quit buying shit that I really don’t need. It’s amazing how much just not buying shit all the time simplifies life. I’ve taken the practice of putting stuff on Amazon in my cart and leaving it sit and then later realizing I don’t even need it, so I don’t buy it.

  3. Since my wife went to working from home full time, and 18 months ago, she has picked up two side hustles and still busts ass at work well enough to get a $2/hr raise just recently. Knock off the $300-350 a month that she was spending to commute and she’s got all kinds of money now.

  6. My company is allowing people to switch their status to full-time remote, and I made the switch. At some point I’ll go back to the office one more time to clean out my desk, and then that will be the last time.

  8. I just wanted to share with you guys what I ended up doing with the much appreciated donations you guys sent me. I ended up putting some towards our summer taxes. But the majority of it went towards my wife's headstone. 😭 The 2 sets of cat and dog paw prints are for the 2 cats and 2 dogs we had over the past almost 25 years together. Plus, my wife was a huge animal lover. Both of our cats were rescued as kittens. And our oldest dog we got form The Michigan Humane Society back in August of 2011. I will post an actual picture of it when it's in place at the cemetery. Thanks again gents. You have no idea how much your kindness and generosity means to me. And I will never forget that you guys are the ones who paid for this awesome tribute to my wife. ❤️

  14. I'm calling 100% BULLSHIT on the 45 year old, maybe 22 or 24 at best, youtube - "Yukon men" episode titled "THIN ICE" dated 2012 and seeing how we're not allowed to mention Frankies family members because of the site rules, Well the "Person" in the boat said he teaching this "14 year old how to hunt" start the video at 46 second mark to about the 50 second mark, I'm not sure if we're allowed to post youtube videos from the TV show Yukon Men because it shows a member of this site and some of their family members, but you can look up "Yukon men" episode titled "THIN ICE" on youtube. Man it's just sad that someone has really messed this young mans head up with the hatred for Americans, I mean after all he was born and raised in the United States of America and still lives in the United States of America no matter what he's been told or brainwashed into believing about the U.S. State of Alaska.

  17. Bingo! Except, there really isn’t much actual critical thinking. Like you said, it’s all about sticking to their narrative. When they can’t. They just disappear or change the subject.

  20. I've been working from home for the last 12-13 years. I used to show up at the office to grab the on-call phone, take a day in the office for pick up and drop off every 15 weeks or so, but with the requirements for wearing a mask, I'm not going in. I just arrange with those around me on the on-call calendar to meet somewhere now. What I find funny is, the ones who have been the most afraid, the most at risk (Comorbidities) and the ones who stayed in their houses the longest when this all started, are the very FIRST ones in line to go back into the office, and make the rules for the rest of us if we want to go back. They are also the ones on the Zoom and Teams meetings who have visibly GAINED WEIGHT the last 18 months. Not all, but the vast majority. Guess what, you make your rules to step foot in the office, I'll stay home (Or where ever I am working) and collect my paycheck just the same.

  23. son's daughter just walked in the door getting home from an evening shift at a Target 20 miles away. To school by 7 am, leaves school at 220, to work by 3, done at 730. I ask what ya getting paid/hr? $15/hr. and she says they can't get people to work. She drives down there 3 days a wk and then on Saturdays all day. I give the kid credit for wanting to work at 17 years old, when it seems the rest of this fucked up country's grown ups can't find the umph to get their asses out of bed in the morning unless their cell phones are not at arm's reach. Where the hell is everyone's money still coming in from? I thought the free checks were over now?

  24. Here's a suggestion .... some constructive criticism if you will. If you have so much time on your hands that you're surfing the web and feel it's necessary to post about a pending Jimmy John's chips shortage, maybe find something better to do than sit in front of a web browser all day. Holy shit man - aren't you retired?

  31. Still chasing leaves. I spent 8 hours in the at yesterday driving around northern VT and NH. I caught the St Lawrence & Atlantic leaving Island Pond on it's way to Quebec. I rushed up the road and caught it crossing over the road in Morgan.
