A welfare state in a capitalist system is merely guillotine insurance. It is not a good example of socialism. And how exactly, does it answer any questions? Seems to me that if you're on welfare, and decide to work, you lose that benefit. If it were a true example of socialism, welfare programs wouldn't be denied to those who choose to work. Hunger for knowledge, power, money, fame, fitness etc. We have turned a feeling that was caused by lack of food and used it to motivate ourselves. Some of the most impressive successful people in the world in all fields may have never felt actual hunger or been threatened by it. But they managed to still get driven by the emotions of hunger.
