side note IMHO this tax plan is wanted by many on both sides . it needs to include a 10 %to 20 % spending cut to every one and every thing .

then a list put out of who refused to vote for it .

Yeah if that happens, just another false economy, which we'll pay for again.  I'm not gonna sit and watch this time, i'm signing up for my 350k home and new 50k pickup truck to park in the driveway.  Somebody else can pay for it a few years later after I have to move our asses out.  I'll live like a baller for a little while anyway.

this morning they released a rough draft and they were talking income brackets . I thought over 300k for a family of 2 was 25%

but this was at 9am and it was a draft from what I understand

no your not unless you are self employed and counting the other side of FICA or counting state taxes which are irrelevant. Married with a standard deduction at 300k right now pays 22.5% 200k pays 18.5%.  Add in the mortgage, dependents and tax deductions most have with those incomes and they are in the 15-18% effective range.  

That said if you remove the increased standard deduction and put simple brackets in there might not be any loss of income from 90+% of the population as their effective tax rates now are low but those who will get the real benefit from the brackets don't need them.  Add another 10% to the top bracket at 500k the plan might be a winner by not reducing taxes for most but by making it a simpler to understand code as too many right now start whining I'm not working more cause they take it all in taxes when it's the furthest thing from the truth.

I am self employed have no mortgage deduction nor do I wish for 1  any more and no dependents

I don't know my exact rate to be honest just wright the check for the amount on the slip the accountant makes out for me to send in .

if I take my taxable income x .24 the number is real close to the check I sent in 2 weeks ago. and that is not even including the cash they pull from my wife's check every 2 weeks .

I do not pretend to go over the book he gives me back  line by line I look at what my taxable is and what I owe and make sure the business deductions are all about what I remember turning in .

then I get pissed off and grumpy for a few weeks go get a cashers check for the fed and 1 for the state set them on my desk for a week or so to remind me just how long I am working for them then I drop them in the box on the last poss pick up close to my home the day they are due

I think every one should get there full check then have to walk down to the next window and wright a check to the government for what they owe every pay check . shit would change in a hurry if that were the case . because u are correct most have no clue at all .

well we all cry about Donald not paying because he is using loop holes and deductions . we cry because the rich use there legal deductions to  not pay there share . 10% with no deductions will generate not just money but confidence the government is going in the right direction with the cuts and spur a shitload on investment . so not 10% with no deductions what 13% 14% pick a number set it in stone and walk away . then live with in that number .

 I would also assume with no deductions 10% is closer to 13 to 15 with deductions for a average family and a lot more for the rich like 18 or better ? am I that far off?
