AKIQPilot
Yea, yea. Not what you wanted but here it is anyway. Great racing today with family and friends. About 25f and bright sunshine. All the guys from Fairbanks came down and showed us how this Oval Ice shit is done. The track was big and the racing fast, 80+ on the back stretch. Some really nice sleds came out to play today. i'll post a few pictures.

AKIQPilot
A little video of the over 45 final. Shaun Nester on the bad ass Twister. Me getting schooled right behind Shaun. Dave Jensen on a 410cc Flannery TXL with the video. Great fun for sure.
AKIQPilot
I got a 2nd in Over 45 and a 3rd in the Pro Open. The old MotoSki is a tank out of the corners. There was some pretty solid competition today so I don't feel too bad about the results. 8 sleds in the over 45 final and 6 in the Open final. The track was super fast. More than I wanted for sure.

Mileage Psycho
Looks like a ton of fun Tom, nice 2nd place finish!! That Cat SnoPro sled looked to be in very good shape and race ready.

Cold War
Very Cool! We used to run a Z and a EXT. Lots of good memories to see the old iron still in use and not sitting around as dust collectors.
1jkw
Hell of a job Tom, for you to stay that close to the twister in the turns is impressive, your sled has got to be between 1 and 2 hundred pounds heavier.

Snoslinger
god damn that looks like fun. don't you have a helmet cam yet tom? for all the fun shit and cool places you ride I'd think it'd be mandatory.

The Twister weighs 350 with fuel my sled weighs 540 with fuel. That Twister has a Nesbit bult 340 and runs race fuel, makes about 80HP, My Motoski is completely stock and burns 93 octane premium. Makes 86HP. Shaun has won Eagle River several times on that sled and his SnoPro Cat. He is a very good rider. 1 hour ago, Snoslinger said: god damn that looks like fun. don't you have a helmet cam yet tom? for all the fun shit and cool places you ride I'd think it'd be mandatory. I have several but haven't used them this season. As everyone knows taking the video is the easy part. Putting the footage into a watchable video is what takes effort. Not one of my better videos but some close racing action.

They have won several times. Last time was 2015 I believe. Those sleds are on a whole different level from my sled. I am a half lap back in a 8 lap main to that SnoPro. I would get lapped if Shaun Smith rode hard. He just comes out and plays with us for fun. We aren't even close to his speed on that track.

racinfarmer
I think I asked this on the old site, but do you race an ice LeMans ever? If not, you should check it out, they are a blast!

LaMans tracks are may more work though and a huge workout. It's super hard to be set up for a hard left hander and swap over for a immediate right hander. I wish we would add a couple LAMans tracks back into our season. They are so much fun.

Great pictures AK and you did great just look at the size of those twisters your sled is like 100 lbs heavier and you're too fat to make that difference even with being a dwarf

Overall, I think the shorter guys have a easier time manhandling a sled, especially on ice. Tall lanky fuckers like me, it can be a bit of a challenge on tight technical tracks. Kind of disappointed that you haven't uploaded any new videos for a couple of years though Yea, I'm pretty lame. I have lots of footage but never took the time to edit any of it. Now that I'm unemployed I may make time. Haha Our last LaMans style Grand Prix. The course was 5 miles long with about 40 turns. The Vintage sleds were supposed to make 4 laps but we cut it down to 2 because of the weather. Three days before the race it got to 50f and started raining non stop. We waterskipped for 90% of the track. It wasn't much fun but the Motoski has long legs and it won easily. I got clocked at 92mph on one of the back stretches. Get rid of the water and the sled would have hit 100 easily.
