Nasa's 'holy grail': Entire new solar system that could support alien life discovered

Very cool!  It's only a matter of time before we discover life outside our planet.  As our tech improves, we'll find more and more.  My bet is that the universe is teeming with life any place it can exist - and certainly not limited to what can live on the Earth. :thumb:

Pretty awesome that NASA tells us that there are rocks orbiting a star way out there.  Prolly billions spent to come to that conclusion.  It's not like man kind will ever go there to see those rocks

What's the point of it???  Feel good discovery or something???  Duh there are rocks in space other then the earth that could possibly have life.  Bfd!!!  If it takes NASA to tell you that you are one dumb muthafucka

The "Wheel" was invented with little or no tax dollars.  Fuck with what NASA spends on "really no shit, you think it just may or could be possible" bullshit we could give you Antifa fags some free govt cheese to calm you fags down and stop ya from destroying starbucks stores for no reason

Do you honestly need to have NASA tell you there could be life out there at billions of dollars of cost????

Do you honestly need NASA to come out and tell you there is life out there and at the cost to tell you this?   What do you expect in return in your own words or thoughts on this investment?

Do you honestly think they just "told us this" .......are you so fucking ignorant as to not understand what a profound achievement it is to be able to peer into the universe 1000's of light years away and see things in detail? Are you honestly that fucking dense??????

You are akin to someone who thinks the earth is flat

Again what do we gain from this expenditure in your own words?  World peace or some shit?

i think the best thing that could happen is that we discover life elsewhere and that will put another nail in the coffin of the monotheistic religions that have plagued us for the last few thousand years. dont the religious ones all think we are the special place that god 'chose'?

40 light years away.   Like they know anything about it.  To put it in perspective the fastest spaceship we have goes 33,000 MPH and would take 1,720,000 years to get there.   Not to mention how to fuel it that long.

See my edit.  It would take us 1,720,000 years to get there with our current fastest spaceship.   Think about that.

200 years from now we are going to essentially know the same shit about these rocks orbiting a distant red dwarf star.  We will have spent trillions to know that life could possibly exist on these rocks.

i will save you a bunch of money...  there is life out there...  we will never see it, talk to it or actually study it up close but it's out there somewhere.

I just saved the US shit loads of cash!!!!

It will take more than that to accomplish the goal of reaching that planet in a lifetime.   Some things are just so far off I don't care how fast technology is advancing!  We are a long ways off an and exponentially large amount of money spent to get there.   I can think of many better ways to spend the trillions and trillions of dollars it would take.

Speed of light is 670,616,629 MPH.   Currently we can go 33,000 mph in space.   Propulsion is one thing and fuel is another.

Considering one light year is around 6 trillion miles.   Now times that by 40 and that is the distance the system is away.
