On February 16, 2010, US President Barack Obama announced more than $8 billion of federal loan guarantees to begin building the first US nuclear power stations after more than 30 years. New nuclear expansion will start with the construction and operation of two new 1100 MW Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear reactors which are to be constructed

not sure of my convictions of nuclear power . but it is a necessary evil

pretty sure every war ship now and planed is using it for propulsion also . far from dead

any one know if we have finished  the storage mine yet?

no it's not a necessary evil. america has an abundance of natural gas. energy companies in america want nothing to do with nuclear. simple economic sense. sheesh. what's not to get here?

there was a new nuclear opening late last year in tenn. something like 20 years in the planing. since its ground breaking and the approval of the GA plant, natural gas supplies have shy rocketed and cost had plummeted. it's impossible for nuclear power to compete on a cost basis with electricity from cheap NG.

cheep NG for now. again u know as soon as u libs get back in full power fracking will be a thing of the past . then what ?

yeah it would be nice to not have any nuclear power but that is not a reality

for asia and eastern europe it's pretty much their only option other than coal.....which is an environmental disaster.

but I thought Nuclear was dead ?

so u would be ok fracking  indefinitely for nat gas where ever needed to keep pace with the needs of American power plants?
