And how much did it cost to develop the drug? 10's of $M's, 100's of $M's perhaps a $B. It doesn't tell you that part. They need to recover the research, development and certification costs.

So they were able to test it and use people in other countries without regulations for drug certification previous to the US. You think that FDA certification comes for free. Extensive testing, studies and reports. Now the other part. RARE disease so the demand will be LOW. Think logically. I know that's a stretch for you, low demand, fewer doses, higher cost per dose. It just got approved. Not years ago, just now. Think for a minute and realize that the formulation and research has continued for years after they perhaps found serious side effects when they were using people in say India as test subjects. That all comes for free right. You truly are a dumbass.

They recovered the research costs decades ago. This is nothing more than corporate greed to the max.

Your comprehension level is a big F. They use places like India for clinical trials and refinement. Do you think that the people in India where extreme poverty runs rampant have a hope in hell of paying for the drug. Those places with little or no drug certification provide the opportunity to gather all the information and test results for presentation to the FDA. Think about why it was just approved for use in the US on Thursday. Perhaps that's how long it took to refine the drug to the point of FDA approval.

why do you defend an industry that intentionally produced addictive drugs for profit with no regard for pain and suffering? drug companies are capturing 35% margins. and you are a putz.

FDA approval is not expensive enough to warrant the cost increase. Especially when they have a baseline from other Countries to compare   There is no excuse but corporate greed. I'm all for profit for a company but this should be regulated somehow   Or just make it legal for people or insurance companies to buy it outside the US.

After they changed OxyCodone so people couldn't crush it to snort it sales dropped 80%. Proving 80% was for stoners. After sales dropped they changed it back because sales dropped so bad. Government should have been able to step in and make them change it back again. The biggest drain on society right now is prescription drug abuse. Drug companies are the largest cartel in the world and they are legal.

And OxyContin is the gateway drug to heroin.  Tons of people are getting hooked on Oxy and switching to heroin since it's cheaper.  It's a major problem.  HBO did a series about kids on Cape Cod getting hooked on heroin, good kids for the most part and half of them die during the documentary.

Most are to poor for heroin or cocaine so we have tons of meth, morphine, hydromorph and fentanyl.

Funny how the war on drugs was fought for the most part because of weed and coke. But neither of those drugs has had anywhere near the negative effects on society that prescription drugs has. Big buisness rules the law and when a law don't suit them they lobby government to change it.

following the hardcoating of oxy's is when heroin use exploded. they retained the hardcoat on larger milligram pills. 30mg percs can still be cooked up and injected.

If you watched today's news, a guy from the drug company who makes the drug said the cost will come way down with insurance. It cost more than 70% more in the US than Europe, somethings wrong here, I understand costs to develop and license the drugs but what good can it be to charge more money than 99.9% of the people can afford to buy it? The  Drug guy had this crazy smirk on his face, you know, the kind which you'd just like to punch him in the mouth..
