What a useless drunk , brainless brian france  is. Has control of a golden goose that was made strong  by his long passed away family members , and has pissed it away. He should run for a major union president title , they all have the same thing in common .

NASCAR for sale ?

May 7 (Reuters) - The majority owners of NASCAR, the company which operates the namesake U.S. car-racing series and other motorsport events, are exploring options that include the sale of a majority stake, people familiar with the matter said on Monday.

The move comes as NASCAR grapples with an aging fan base, stricter safety rules and a competitive media landscape that have weighed on its popularity and made it less attractive to advertisers and sponsors.

The France family, which controls NASCAR, is working with investment bank Goldman Sachs Group Inc to identify a potential deal for the company, three sources said, cautioning that the deliberations are at exploratory stage and no agreement of any kind is certain.

The sources asked not to be identified because the deliberations are confidential.

NASCAR and Goldman Sachs declined to comment.

NASCAR could attract interest from media companies and private equity firms, according to the sources. The company's exact valuation could not be established, though the sources said it could be worth several billions of dollars.

The company was founded by Bill France Sr. in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1948. Drivers in its races, such as Dale Earnhardt Sr, became household names, and major companies rushed to have their brands affiliated with NASCAR.

But as its loyal fans grew older, younger consumers showed less enthusiasm for the sport, driving TV ratings down. There is still, however, a lot of competition between broadcasters, technology companies and cable operators for live sports rights, as advertisers seek events that viewers want to watch real-time.

"In a time period that is attractive for live event and live entertainment, Nascar has struggled," said Rich Greenfield, an analyst with BTIG. "There is absolutely a desire to own rather than license content but everything has a price."

NASCAR has been dabbling in so-called e-sports in a bid to reach younger audiences. Earlier this year, 704Games, NASCAR's exclusive video game licensee, said it would bring NASCAR Heat Champions to Daytona International Speedway during the Daytona 500 weekend.

As a privately held company, NASCAR does not disclose earnings. However, International Speedway Corp, which hosts the Daytona 500 rally and owns 12 of the 23 NASCAR Cup Series tracks, reported a 1.6 percent year-on-year drop in admissions revenue in its fiscal 2017, blaming it "substantially" on NASCAR events.

In 2017, Liberty Media Corp spent more than $8 billion, including debt, to acquire international motor sports league Formula 1, ending a long-running saga surrounding the sport’s ownership and potential flotation. The new owners have shaken up its management, and put a sharper focus on new media markets and boosted its presence in North America.

The NHRA has been on and off the sales block for over five years. IHRA is owned by Feld entertainment , with the focus  today on only the sportsman ranks.  Feld did try to purchase francecar  but did not have enough assets or financial partners to close the deal. Can't wait for old Humpy Wheeler and the Smith family to weigh in.

Just checked Andrew's email. I guess my Endoftheroad team finished third on the week and was the second biggest mover jumping 12 spots.

Harvick, Logano, Keselowski.

Kenseth expected to drive next five weekends

  •

Matt Kenseth will return to NASCAR this weekend at Kansas Speedway, and the driver he is at least temporarily replacing in the No. 6 Ford will be there, too.

In a Tuesday morning interview at Roush Fenway Racing, Kenseth told NBC Sports that he expects Trevor Bayne will be at Saturday night's Cup race.

The two met in person Tuesday at the team's shop for the weekly debrief, which Bayne commutes to from his home in Knoxville, Tennessee.

"I talked to Trevor on the phone the other day for half-hour or hour; had a good conversation with him," Kenseth said. "Look forward to seeing him today.

The 2003 champion, who also had lunch with Roush teammate Ricky Stenhouse Jr. last week, has been confirmed in Bayne's car for Kansas and the next week at the All-Star Race, but Roush hasn't announced the No. 6 driver lineup for the rest of 2018.

According to two people with direct knowledge of the schedule but who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak publicly, Kenseth will drive in at least the next five race weekends - Kansas, the All-Star Race, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Pocono Raceway and Michigan International Speedway.

There is a one-week break in the schedule after Michigan before the circuit returns June 24 race at Sonoma Raceway. In February, Roush announced the No. 6 would be sponsored by AdvoCare at Sonoma and in the July 1 race at Chicagoland Speedway. Because of his tight relationship with AdvoCare, it's expected Bayne will be in the car for those races.

Asked about his upcoming schedule, Kenseth said, "I'm running a good chunk right in a row, then it's sporadic after that."

If ?? Matt the brat has better results in the # 6 than Bayne , Bayne will be looking for a new ride.

I'm surprised he hasn't been looking already.

I wonder how he'd fair at a better team.

The Wood Brothers have been much better being a Penske Satellite Team...he should have stuck around there.

It will be interesting to see if Matt can keep up with the other Fords in a RFR Ford.

IMO....no. Roush Fords aren't even close to Stewart Haas  and Penske.

Jack Roush has never been the same since his plane accident , and it shows with his francecar teams .

Stenhouse has had some pretty good runs. We know that they at least have the same Yates motors as the other Ford teams.

Quality rides in cup are very hard to find today. Even a two to five race deal.

He isn't as relevant as he used to be now that the cars don't have a carburetor to tune.

Roush Yates motors were pretty much the top of the heap a few years ago in dirt cars.

Speaking of which...

Agree , Roush like the Wood Brothers  were engine and driveline experts . Aero not so much.

Stenhouse tends to way over drive what he has under his ass ( like Newman ) , then wrecks.   He has shown good results as of late.  I kinda now like old hot head Kurt Busch , he had some very solid runs.  Johnson is also improving his performance.

I hope he does well or he will be wishing he stayed out...not to many can say they won their last race.

Ratings continue to fall.

Quote

Dover final TV ratings

UPDATE: Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series Dover 400 earned a 1.7 rating and 2.8 million viewers on FS1, down 19% in ratings and 17% in viewersihp from last year (2.1, 3.4M) and down 32% and 30% respectively from 2016 (2.5, 4.0M).

The race was delayed 49 minutes due to rain, with the delay earning a 1.6 and 2.6 million.

Kevin Harvick's win was the lowest rated edition of the race since at least 1998 and the least-watched since at least 2001.

On a packed weekend, NASCAR ranked just eighth among all sporting events behind the Kentucky Derby, all four NBA playoff games, a Stanley Cup playoff game and the final round of the PGA Tour at Quail Hollow.
