Going to be a chippy game before this one is over!

Detest the Russians and their showboating/fistpumping after a goal.

Hope Canada puts it to them!!

Canada wins 1st game

Russia definitely isn't as strong as they've been, and that's a good thing considering how our goaltender played.

First gamer jitters, maybe, but I bet the backup goalie gets the nod for the next game?

Feeling bad for the Slovak goaltender. The bastard is working his ass off and getting beat.

31-3 shots on net, and only the end of the second. He may just get first star?

Who's got or can get tickets

Good luck with that, Soup. Those will be pricey for sure!

Afternoon game again this year. I preferred when they played in the evening. We watched a couple of those games in the bar at The Keg. Made for great New Years as they crowd got into it.

Canada in tough today, any foolish penalties shall lead to bench warming.

lets go guys!

I haven't watched the U.S. yet but I have heard they have a solid team. On paper, I'd say they are the favorites but usually that just fires up the opposing team.

I don't Canada's squad is as strong as years past, but they are currently proving that wrong.

This will be a huge test for both squads with hopefully Canada prevailing but I think this game might be decided on who gets the bounces, and like you said, who can stay out of the box!

Going to be a great game! :good:

Good grief.

2 powerplays goals for the Americans. Canada has yet to put a puck on net.

They better get their shit together.

Yep, don't don't stand a chance if they can't stay out of there!

U.S. is big and strong but Canada is again, looking for the perfect pass instead of just shooting the puck.

Frustrates the hell out of me as most of those passes get intercepted and the opportunity is once again wasted!!!

The stop on the breakaway looked great until they showed the replay and you realize the goaltender never moved. The puck went straight into the glove.

That happens a lot, even in the NHL. The goalie tries to make himself as big as possible by throwing his big/wide glove up there and sometimes they get lucky and the puck goes in the glove. Watch some of the highlight reels and you will see this quite often.

Big hole to climb out of.

Down 2 and on a penalty kill.

Next 2 mins will tell story

They are playing better, imo, but a big hole for sure. They need one soon to stand a chance.

Their loss of their big player isn't helping though.
