Well MC...............................:dunno:  You get sorta half-hack credit to be used on your next hack thread.  Seems he wasn't backing Trump either.

"Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is advising vulnerable Republican senators to break with Donald Trump if he wins the GOP nomination, according to a bombshell New York Times report Saturday.

McConnell has reportedly advised Republicans that they can run ads against Trump to create separation from the polarizing GOP frontrunner if they believe it can help their reelection efforts."

That was before Trump won.

Right.  It wouldn't make sense if it was after he won.  My point (his point) was it's time to come together now that it is over.  Clearly, Trump wasn't what he wanted either.

Stay with me MC.  We can do this....TOGETHER!  Now...hold my hand.....

Term limits are elections. They continue to win because they work for their constituents.

They win because of fear politics.  If we don't stay with the name recognition incumbent the other team might get in there.

Don't kid yourself, they are working for themselves. If the constituents benefit it is merely coincidental.

So let me be devils advocate and ask the question. Why is there a term limit for President. If the people believe they have the best person for the job why not let them keep on being the best for the job just like the others.

But applying the same logic as Maine Cat they would only be able to stay as President if they are doing what the people want them to do. If they are indeed doing an excellent job what is wrong with staying as President until the people elect someone they believe can do better. Maine Cat said.

Alexander Hamilton argued this same thing as the Federalist Party leader.  A super mind in his noggin but failed to see the vision of the others involved in the making of the good ol' USA.  His ideas of governance always went back to the way England did it. Ultimately it was decided that stagnancy and an elitist oligarchy would be the result (like England at the time).  Members of congress at the time more or less served out of a sense of duty as it usually cost them time and money to do so.  IMO, what is happening now with career politicians would astound them.  Most held a type of "voluntary politician" role, but it wasn't their bread and butter.

IMO, career politicians are bad for forward momentum.  Especially since they spend about half of their time in office trying to get anything done....and usually less than what most of us would consider "successfully".  And the other half of their time pan handling for money and selling themselves for re-election...all on the taxpayer dime.
