Special Statement Issued: 5:01 AM CST Nov. 16, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Potent winter storm to impact Upper Michigan this weekend...

A storm system developing over the southern rockies tonight and
Thursday is expected to lift into western Upper Michigan Friday
evening... and then move across Eastern Lake Superior late Friday
night. Much colder air in the wake of this system will generate
several inches of lake enhanced snow across west and north central
Upper Michigan beginning late Friday night and continuing into
Saturday night. Strong northwest winds with the system could also
gust as high as 55 mph from the Keweenaw peninsula to the Lake
Superior shoreline areas east of Marquette on Saturday. Elsewhere
across west and central Upper Michigan wind gusts to 45 mph are
possible Saturday.

The strong northwest winds across Lake Superior will also whip up
waves of 15 to 20 feet from the tip of the Keweenaw peninsula to
shoreline areas east of Marquette to Whitefish Point. These waves
could cause significant Lakeshore flooding and beach erosion from
late Friday night into Saturday night.

Those with outdoor interests or planning travel into Upper Michigan
this weekend should stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or other media
outlets for further updates and statements on this developing storm
system.

Why so late pulling them?

Sons wedding kept us pretty busy the last 3 weeks.  If the level looks decent (like 10" below the top) I might keep everything as is and deal with it in Spring.

fucking water is probably 65* yet.

Sadly, no.  According to the official lake level and water manager.... it's 48.

The ice won't damage it in the Spring when it goes out?

Nope- in a bit of a cove / bay and ice rolls past and into my ohio neighbors permanent dock.  I'm good with that

....I pulled the floating section of my dock 6 weeks ago when they started to lower the lake.

i used to leave the first section in and stack my other sections on top of it since they lowered the lake in the fall by 3 feet or so.  worked well and easy to reassemble that section

I leave the 8ft ramp attached to the section. I'm probably going to add another section next year.
