Finally going to do it.....cutting the cable... YouTube TV????

After spending an hour on the phone with Comcast last week we decided to get rid of cable and go to streaming only. I got my bill down to $217 from $263, and got more channels :wtf:   The only way I was going to stream was if it was through an easy to use remote / menu system. After a bit of research I decided on Roku. From there I ended up buying an inexpensive reconditioned TCL tv with built in Roku. It was rated a best buy for an inexpensive TV. We already have Amazon Prime and Netflix. We are thinking of going with YouTube TV for our local and cable channels. It's $50 a month, but it looks like it covers most of the channels we currently watch. The only thing I noticed was no NFL network. Any of you guys have Y^ouTube TV, or one of the other streaming services that carry networks too?

I have looked into YouTube tv but it’s not available here. You can get it there? It’s only available in some areas.

My BIL has Hulu Live, it’s pretty good.

Yes, it's available here in the middle of nowhere,  lol. It gives me all of the local networks out of Burlington.  The PBS is out of NH.

Youtube TV will be what I go to after my Dish contract is up.   My research says they are one of the few live sports streaming providers.  Sling is owned by Dish and they have the Fox Regional conflict going on and I haven't seen a Twins, Wild, Wolves game since July.   But I'd also like the NHL and NFL Networks which Youtube does not have right now.

You should just give up on MN sports teams and watch Pornhub or something.

Directv is going to be shitcanned at the end of the month.  Most likely go with slingtv unless direct tv is willing to lock my price for life at $50 a month when I go to cancel.  Kid is the only one that watches much sports.  My internet is locked for life/no contract at $55 a month....  could upgrade to giganet for $65 a month locked for life but what ever I got currently will stream netflix on 3 tv’s without issue so not sure why I would upgrade internet.

We went with Roku a while back.  Our problem is that the cable internet/wifi is still through Spectrum so, they bind us up a bit but, after a few calls and some negotiations, I got them down to giving us about 20 channels (including locals)and the internet for about $85/month.  We also have Hulu, Netflix, and one or two others.  I think total we are down about $40 on the overall "viewing" bill but, our choices are so much broader and better now.

The problem I have with Roku is it doesn;t allow screen mirroring from apple products.  We'll jump to something different in the future that will do this.

Been using the Firestick and Hulu live for a while now and for the most part have been happy. Although they always seem to find a way to jack up my internet costs.  I'm up to about $125 / month for internet and Hulu Live now.

In my case it would be $150 a month.

What I like is the options available with streaming.  There is literally hundreds of different apps.  Some free some require a subscription but, it sure beats the same old stale shit on cable.

Millions of free movies, shows and channels with an android box.

It isn't free. I believe it's technically illegal in the US.  Still a grey area here.

Anything transmitted over the air can be received for free, if you transmit it then it can be illegal.

I have ROKU on all my TVs, and on my phone.

I get all my local channels, any sports I want to watch, DVR service.... basically everything I had with cable, but with HULU it's like $55 a month. It could be $10 less but I like to have the unlimited viewing devices option.

Be aware that some ROKU TV no longer will work WITHOUT the ROKU device. I bought a new 4k for the bedroom and still had to get the device. No biggie.
