They are doing it because thats the future and many of them are years behind in tech. Would you rather have a vehicle that gets 20-30mpgs or one that gets 100mpgs and has better performance and less maintenance? Well we know what you would do but lots of younger people are going the other route. In 10 years you'll be filling up your GM v-8 at $10/ gallon while everybody else is going 1,000 mile on a charge. I agree we are going electric but that statement is complete BS.

Many states ( mine I know of ) Power company has to pay ( or credit ) you full retail. That will change to wholesale at some point. The roads are going to look alot different in 10 years. Sorry if that hurts your butt. sorry if If you think that's a great idea with the current electrical grid that we have that can barely handle a hot day more or less a million cars plugged into it

How much solar is generated at night to charge your car? Some of these scenarios don't make sense.
SmeeAgain
Not much would put a large smile on my face than being able to tell the Ah-rabs to stick their oil up their ass because we're using electric cars. All the bonuses that come with electric cars, faster, simplicity, economical, and no emissions are just that - a bonus.

Some of these scenarios don't make sense. solar with storage is something that Musk has been pushing more and more so that people can truly be off the grid. End of the day I don't think solar is the be all end all but it can certainly run a small households normal functions including powering EV. IMO best solution to our energy needs (including powering EV's) is nukes. we really should start opening more nuke plants to feed the populated areas. that will give 24/7/365 feed to the grid
Gold Member BOHICA Posted December 9, 2019 Gold Member Share Posted December 9, 2019 Coal is going by the wayside as a generation source. Several large coal plants are shutting down out west over the next few years. Natural gas and renewables are easily making up generation needs.
