Tariq Aziz (a Christian) knew exactly what was going to happen and he lived  long enough to see it happen...great read.

And this Bremer guy....holy fuck. He was obsessed with the idea that The Ba'ath Party was analogous to the German Nazi Party and had to be eliminated.

The ottomans were allies with the second Reich before ww1.

Sad part about the whole thing is anyone with a basic understanding of humans could have and should have expected exactly what happened.

HW knew it and pulled out after the first gulf war. Wise man. The son...not so much.

I think the players knew exactly what would happen they as much as said so during Iraq part1 in 91 so I am not sure what this is about other than turning the entire world to shit.

So what was the motive? Lining their pockets during the rebuild?

What HW did was as much of a cause of 9/11 as anything.   OBL didn't like that SA leaned on the US for protection after Kuwait was invaded and hated it more that bases were left in SA after the Gulf War.

Reality is we should have stayed out of that one too even though the world knew Saddam was gasing his own people.

Should the UN not have removed him from power then? (1988)

Please explain why you believe this.

Wasn't our fight.   OBL went to SA and said his fighters would protect SA.   It was all about non-muslims protecting Islam's most holiest sites.   This is not my theory but a well know issue as a driving force behind 9/11.

Fearing that President Saddam Hussein of Iraq might invade Saudi Arabia next (despite Saudi assistance to Iraq during the Iran-Iraq War), the Saudis, breaking with tradition, invited the United States and other countries to send troops to protect the kingdom. This was done after Fahd had received the approbation of the kingdom’s highest-ranking religious official, Sheikh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Bāz, who agreed that non-Muslims could defend Islam’s holiest places. By mid-November the United States had sent 230,000 troops, which were the most important part of the coalition force that ultimately included soldiers from many other countries.

In 1996, Bin Laden issued a fatwa calling for American troops to get out of Saudi Arabia. In the 1998 fatwa, Al-Qaeda wrote: "for over seven years the United States has been occupying the lands of Islam in the holiest of places, the Arabian Peninsula, plundering its riches, dictating to its rulers, humiliating its people, terrorizing its neighbors, and turning its bases in the Peninsula into a spearhead through which to fight the neighboring Muslim peoples."[20] In the December 1999 interview with Rahimullah Yusufzai, bin Laden said he felt that Americans were "too near to Mecca" and considered this a provocation to the entire Muslim world.[26]

Its weird that these radical islamist groups dont attack Saudi Arabia for their embracement of the infidel nations being US, England and Israel. Or maybe it isnt that weird if you really look at it...

True.   Saddam was a brutal killer.   When the world made the decision to oust him from Kuwait it should have not been done without his removal for gassing the Kurds in 88.   After that quickly GTFO however we know now democracy is not much of an option in the Muslim world so we just should have stayed out of the whole thing.

Saddam was installed by the CIA, same as every NK dictator. Every time a country tries to rid itself of CIA/deep state control they are removed. It’s time to stop buying this bullshit. Rip Moto all you want about his socialist utopia but Bolivia was just the latest example of this and he rightfully points it out. I wish everybody would wake up, we collectively enable this. Enough.
