A small ICE(10-15hp) on a battery bias vehicle could extend the range to easily cover 99.9% of the populations long distance driving need while maintain the superior performance of an electric vehicle compared to a purely ICE vehicle. No.... diesel electric locomotives don’t have any batteries. Diesel just turns a generator to power electric motors.
