The Canadian Human Rights Act was passed a long time ago, in 1977 to be precise, and it does in fact require that women and men within the same establishment be paid the same for work of equal value.

However, this act only recognizes that employees have the right to complain to their employers about pay inequality. In reality, of course, few employees do that, especially when gendered power dynamics are at play.

The new law, however, "proactive pay equity legislation," the operative word being "proactive," puts the responsibility on the employer by requiring that they perform "pay equity analysis" to make sure compensation practices are in line with government standards.

Ultimately, these knee-jerk and emotionally fueled Twitter responses can be fun to read, but should never be taken too seriously. Proactive Pay Equity Legislation is definitely a step in the right direction.

If a 2000/2001 recession where to hit the dumb Liberals tomorrow, it would add another 41 billion to the deficit.  Forget about it if we get another 2008/2009.

more Jobs added last month - silence unlike posting end of summertime job losses

worst ever

Drill down into those numbers.... as an example.... if we lose 30,000 full time jobs but gain 40,000 part time jobs they will publish positive job increases. Of course you see this as a positive. Your cult leader told you so.

You still and never will understand anything about anything when it comes to business. Government doesn't create jobs, you're right on that but that's where it ends. GOVERNMENT CREATES AN ENVIRONMENT THAT EITHER ENCOURAGES OR DISCOURAGES THE COMPANIES THAT DO CREATE THE JOBS.

Give them an environment that isn't buried in bureaucracy and easy to do business in and they will.

So when Trudeau brought down unemployment to 50 year low it wasn't him :dunno:

FACTS ARE IN OUR EMPLOYMENT NUMBERS A WAY UP IN THE PAST 2 YEARS

Compared with 12 months earlier, Canada’s overall employment was up 0.9 per cent following the addition of 171,700 jobs, including 326,100 full-time positions.

Doug's record so far

Ontario experienced the biggest decrease of the provinces by far with a loss of 80,100 jobs — almost all of which were part time. The reading represented a drop of 1.1 per cent for the province and pushed its unemployment rate up to 5.7 per cent, from 5.4 per cent.

GET THE FACTS 02SLEDLESS WE ARE GAINING FULL TIME JOBS AT LARGE RATE

So we went from a 52 year high to an all time low in two years from Trudeau's economic policies.  That's impressive.

NO it took Canada 8 years to get back those lost jobs in 2008 - Harper would have made it with the exact same results but he was ousted.

same goes for Ontario that has lost jobs since Doug was elected - but we can blame Wynne for another 2 or 3 years I am guessing.

Doug took over at 5.4% and has brought it up to 5.9% - Go Doug Go

I doubt we will see job loss posts in the Ontario Thread while Conservatives are in power this is expected.

he Canadian economy advanced 0.7 percent on quarter in the second quarter of 2018, following an upwardly revised 0.4 percent growth in the previous period. It is the strongest growth rate in a year amid higher household spending and exports of energy, pharmaceutical products and business jets. Expressed at an annualized rate, the GDP grew 2.9 percent, well above 1.4 percent in the first quarter but slightly below market expectations of 3 percent.

8 Q4 in a row positive growth - 9 of 10 positive

Doug Fords team backed up Trudeau's carbon tax numbers

The boy can LIE LIE LIE

Spread the fear then don't answer questions

Sure would have been easier to keep capntrade going since no one noticed

Speaking alongside Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, Ford told reporters in Toronto that the carbon tax will cost families much more than they will get back, and that it will cost a single individual $649.

Ford on Trudeau: “He’s saying he’ll give you X amount back, and then he’ll charge you four times more to go into his coffers.”

Fact: The federal government says 70 per cent of families will get more money back from the carbon tax than what they pay. For example, Ottawa says the average Ontario household (of 2.6 people) will incur $244 in new costs from the tax, but receive $300 back in a rebate.

That is backed up by Ontario’s Financial Accountability Officer, who analyzed the carbon tax’s impact on Ontario families, and found a similar result. Peter Weltman’s office studied the tax before all the details were released by Ottawa.

The report finds that costs for the average household in Ontario will increase by $258, but a rebate of about $355 will more than cover them.

The key difference between the budget watchdog’s report and Ottawa’s final numbers is that the Financial Accountability Office assumes Ottawa will send all carbon-tax revenues back to households. Instead, 90 per cent will be sent back to households, and the remaining 10 per cent will be distributed to not-for-profit organizations and small- and medium-sized businesses.

The premier’s office did not respond to a request for the source of Ford’s claim that it would cost Ontarians four times more.
