Tapper: Why no charges against businesses in ICE raids?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so you all want the employers to get fined or get some type of punishment for hiring illegals.  What do you really thing the outcome of that will be?  I bet it won't be what you think.  Instead, there will start to be a bias against hiring people that fit a stereotype.

Knowingly hiring illegals is 6 months in jail.

There is no need for charges now.  Company should have scanned a copy of all the employees docs when they hired them and ran e verify.  If they were provided docs and ran e verify there is no legit charges.  If they knowingly accepted falsified docs or did not run e verify they should be charged but knowingly will be real hard to prove.  I have no doubt at some point MC given where and what his company was doing that he had illegals work there.  Theres plenty of providers of documents to beat e verify in the haverhill/lawrence area.

Ahhh there were over 300 illegals working at the plant.

Did the us government know they were illegal or do you think they all checked out when they did background checks?  How about their SS numbers?  FFS you can't be this naive.

how does the government know there are hired illegals at a company, but the owner of the company doesn’t? Sorry, not buying the owner innocence idea. It’s just another bullshit attitude and belief that protects the business owner.

If the business owner goes through all the checks and everyone passes, what else should they do?

I will ask this again.  So you all want the employers to get fined or get some type of punishment for hiring illegals.  What do you really thing the outcome of that will be?

Hahaha! Racer making excuses for the business owners enabling illegals and condemning the illegals. Dont think for a minute that these places dont know they have employees with sketchy citizenship.

as long as the correct docs were provided they really have to watch themselves when it comes to questioning them

They're sketchy right from the get-go if they have the "proper paperwork" or not.  Ginger just explained up above that the legit paperwork can even be fudged.

Racer certainly is predictable. There was a production bakery here in the city that hired nothing but illegals for years. It was no secret what was going on. It’s a typical scenario that plays out over and over. There’s always going to be the few illegal employees that slip through the cracks in an honest business. But these employers like I just mentioned are fully aware of what’s going on. One or two illegal employees is one thing. But the mass scale of hiring illegal employees is really what this article is about.

What a crock of shit.

Agreed.   Hopefully they are forthcoming.   Doubt it but let's hope.

300 undocumented illegals is a lot.  No way a business owner could think they could get away with that. But, 300 "documented" workers, and just 1 or 2 comes in contact in one way or the other, draws attention to themselves and is found to be really "undocumented", well there's your answer.  The raid will come, and they'll go over everyone's status with a fine tooth comb.

Government really should be on top of this,  if there are 4 jose smiths with the same SS# working in different places the tax system should identify that person for questioning.  Sure he could be working a couple PT jobs but check on it.
