Cities run by Democrats

COINCIDENCE?

Are people finally waking up and noticing the correlation?  Free stuff isn't free.

What do the top ten cities with the highest poverty rate all have in common?

DEMOCRAT LEADERSHIP!

Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn’t elected
a Republican mayor since 1961;

Buffalo, NY (2nd) hasn’t elected one since 1954;

Cincinnati, OH (3rd)… since 1984;

Cleveland, OH (4th)… since 1989;

Miami, FL (5th) has never had a Republican Mayor;

St. Louis, MO (6th)…. since 1949;

El Paso, TX (7th) has never had a Republican Mayor;

Milwaukee, WI (8th)… since 1908;

Philadelphia, PA (9th)… since 1952;

Newark, NJ (10th)… since 1907.

Of the study’s 10 most unequal cities, nine have Democratic mayors. They are Atlanta, San Francisco, Boston, Washington, New York, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis. Only one, Miami, has a Republican mayor.

By contrast, five of the 10 most equal cities have Republican mayors -- Albuquerque; Oklahoma City; Mesa, Ariz.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Virginia Beach, Va. The other five either have a nonpartisan mayor (Raleigh, N.C.; Las Vegas; and Arlington, Texas) or a Democrat (Columbus and Nashville).

Rauner has zero political skills :lol:. He's getting played like a fiddle.

You are correct. He is no match for a lifetime  speaker. But Rauner is correct in everything he has said and claims. Madigan is a pos and has fucked that state up bad. Moving to Indiana may have been the smartest move I ever made. Ironically there is a billboard on southbound 90/94 out of Chicago that says "Indiana - balanced state budget since 2007"...

It's unlikely this thread will stay even remotely civil or educational but, truth is, in the history of successful civilizations, our policies, rules, standards that are proven ineffective, deformed and dysfunctional are usually changed or outright discarded in an effort to save the civilization and progress positively as a people.  Democratic Liberalism seems to be the latest thing that we cannot seem to shake and continues to grow as more and more of their leadership continue to lie to their constituents.  Or, are themselves ill-informed and/or lack the intelligence needed to see where serious problems are occurring.within their own policies.  Rather than the change they should seek, it has become an outright war against anything or anybody who questions their methods and opposes their policy ideas.  No compromise (except when there is no choice), no reconsideration, no admitting of failed policies....just more promises of "change" (free stuff) and pandering to the masses of the lower educated, dysfunctional and disenfranchised Americans (or not even Americans) in an effort of collecting votes.  And as long people continue to believe that the "free stuff" is in the works, Lefty Dems will keep their seats.

And now, in light of the "silent majority", as they are called, having about enough of it, they've decided to fight back using fire to fight fire.  And now look where we all are.

I wonder why they left my city out.

Black dem female mayor so that should count!

This is not the kind of national list that Rochester-area residents hope to top.

Rochester now has more people living at less than half the federal poverty level than any other similarly-sized city in the U.S., says a report released Thursday by the Rochester Area Community Foundation and its ACT Rochester initiative.

For a family of four, that means getting by on less than $11,925 a year — conditions that the report described as "extreme poverty."

Another unfortunate distinction: Rochester is now the only city of its size where slightly more than half of children live in poverty, according to the report.

Only three major U.S. cities have higher child poverty rates — Detroit, Cleveland and Dayton, Ohio.

The report cites several other sobering indicators of local poverty:

  • In Rochester, 16.2 percent of people live in extreme poverty, compared to 15.1 percent in Buffalo.
  • The city's overall poverty rate rose from 2011 to 2013, from 31 percent to 33 percent.
  • Among the cities that anchor the top 75 major metropolitan areas in the nation, Rochester ranks fifth poorest.
  • Rochester ranks second only to Hartford, Connecticut, among similarly-sized cities for its poverty rate among families headed by women, or 36.5 percent.
  • Poverty in Rochester is high for all racial and ethnic groups, but more prevalent among African-Americans, at 40 percent, and Hispanics, at 44 percent, when compared to whites, at 23 percent.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury.

These cities are a prime example of this.

Madigan has his issues....but Rauner doesn't possess a minimal level of political acumen to govern.  He's a novice and government is not nor should not be treated like a private business.  He's been a failure so far and his results have not supported his rhetoric.

He is an intelligent man and has good intentions. He also has the backing of the Illinois republicans so there is an experienced base trying to oppose the destruction of the state which Madigan seems intent on. And thats the truth brah...

I don't buy anyone - even W and the US - being intent on destroying a state.  How much does Rauners plan ask big  business and the wealthy elites to sacrifice?

The reason is job loss...period. From Corporate America sending good jobs offshore to the busting of unions every one of these cities has seen tax revenue losses to the point they are in trouble.

Now answer me this.....Who caused this the Dems or the Corporate owned Repubs?

Listen dude, its beyond that. The state has more unfunded obligations than it can fullfill. And right now there hasnt been a budget in over 10 months. Right now I have numerous employees working without a state license because the state doesnt have enough money to issue licenses. They are not paying lottery winnings, or any other payments that arent mandated by court order. the state is suffering. There are school districts all over the state that dont have enough money to open in the fall. Madigan has completely refused to offer any concessions outside of a 7.5 billion dollar deficit budget. He will not even vote on emergency funding for schools and state services.

I do agree with MC  somewhat..

Here in Rochester Ny the job loses have been huge..Kodak..Xerox..IBM..Delco-Remey...just to name a few- are just shells of what they once were. That said most of the poor here never did work at any of those places.

Oh and we are like the first or second highest taxed county in America.

And our city schools rank right at the bottom.

It's beyond what?  Asking everyone to partake in the pain?  What concessions has Rauner offered?  Or is it Rauner's way or the highway.....which Madigan says :bigfinger: and each side blames the other....??

He is regressive in every sense of the word.
