While the small government argument has become a bit convoluted, limited government interference in the free markets with overreaching taxation and stifling legislation and regulations is always part of the R values. It’s why I’ve always leaned that way from a business standpoint. I think maybe a better equivalent to the far left socialism movement would be maybe the televangelical side of the right? They aren’t starting their own because it’s a political death sentence for them and they need to suckle in the R teats. Maybe that’s why the D-socialists aren’t doing it either. There are still folks touting the tea party line and those people want nothing to do with many of the current entrenched republicans.
