My 328 and had replaceable bushings but most kits included the control arm because they were tiny. My X5 had big bushings. Both needed replacement.

I was just going to press new bushings in but the whole arms arent too much more and then you get new bushings , arms and ball joints. It makes sense to replace the whole thing

Right. It's cheaper to do arms with bushings loaded for dealers than pressing new bushes in. They are a bitch unless you have a press. I did my 328 in a vice.

I'll be replacing them myself. Shouldn't be too hard

Replacing just the bushings may be ok on a 328 driven modestly. M cars are subject to higher cornering forces and subsequent ball joint wear. If the ball joint seems tight then perhaps. Personally I’d replace the entire arm, because if the bushings are gone the ball joints aren’t far behind. Some of that has to do with how long that you plan on keeping the car. I’m assuming that Ben wants the M5 tonstick around awhile.

Yep. Those ball joints are next to go. M cars have some incredible cornering forces and a very stiff chassis. The M’s are miles apart from the standard bmw in chassis rigidity.

It wasn,t,.

I don,t think they come in 2 tone grey from the factory, only on the passenger side, as an option. Without a doubt, that car has seen some re-paint. It has been repainted on the passenger side.

Either the front half, or the back half. Cann,t you see the difference in paint color ?

It's just the picture. No difference in person
