AKIQPilot Posted April 17, 2019 Share Posted April 17, 2019 Just got back to AK early this morning after being gone most of winter. The weather has been unreal here for the past several weeks. In the 50’s almost every day. The lake is already out, went out April 8th. This is the earliest its ever gone out in the 33 years we have lived in this old place. Swans, Greebs, Loons and Eiders are already here making those beloved morning noises. I raked and thatched the lawn, weeded most of the flower beds, picked up all the bits of trash that blew into the yard all winter. My spring time chores are already done and the grass is turning green. Looking forward to another great summer. Lost our last snow in MKE yesterday. Still 12" North and 12" of ice on the lake. Havent done anything except clean up the shit piles from Reese that were trapped under the snow for the past 4 months lol. Might head to the cabin next week to check things out and get the water turned on and do a few other things. You home looks awesome. Do you still have the float plane? We try and stay on top of it every couple of days so we don't have to do a massive spring clean up. Winter time is the easiest for picking up dog shit. Doesn't smell when it's frozen either. If there's clumps of deer shit I clean that up too. If its not stuck together and just pellets like normal and like the rabbits I let the John Deere get those when cutting grass. Can't stand Spring. Between the rain and all the pollen in the air it's the worst season IMO. I'm going to tell my Dr.on Thursday when I'm getting my physical that I want to go to an eval done at an allergy specialist so I can see about getting shots instead of having to take allergy pills. Trees budding, flowers blooming, grass turning green. Waterski in the morning and sled in the afternoon. Top it all off with a fire in the evening.
