I think Bernie would have beaten Trump. That said, unless something changes, Trump has a better chance of winning re-election than he had winning the first time.

Agreed

I wouldnt even be that upset with Trump if it weren't for the absolutely insane appointments he makes. Sessions , Barr , Bolton ,Kavanaugh etc etc. Fucking pieces of human trash

Probably, especially if the Dems offer up more neoliberal garbage candidates.

At the end of the day, I don’t think he really cares who is in his cabinet and other positions. I think he just lets the cronies appoint them and then he says how awesome they are until they’re not and then he casts them aside for someone else.

There are just so many instances of that happening.

I agree. He doesn’t give a shit about who the R establishment wants, so he just lets them pick. At the end of the day, they are irrelevant to what Trump is going to do. They are window dressing to him IMO. No actual power.

The majority of the country doesn't vote. Instead of fighting over some mythical middle, Democrats should be appealing to the disenfranchised voter who doesn't feel at all represented by either party. That constituency is overwhelmingly anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian. Why do you think they don't vote?

This is exactly what I mean when I say Dems are completely out of touch. Perfect demonstration, thank you.

Sorry Dan but you are wrong. Anti capitalists and anti authoritarians wont be electing anyone any time soon.

Howard Dean hates Gabbard, which immediately made me like her.

Exactly...I heard an interview with that jagoff a few weeks ago where he completely dismissed her.

Sanders would have destroyed Trump

No question. If he runs again he has a better chance than most of the others, with the exception of Gabbard.

Fuck even AMG voted for Bernie...

Bernie won the primary here and would have won this state in the general election.

Why do you think he picked those people, on top of his pickings with his campaign?

Oh he cares about a lot of them . He wants people that will protect him. It’s no coincidence many of his hires have the same beliefs about the powers of a sitting president, and against the mueller report.

Wrong. They'll lose if they don't go left enough.

How TF can you imply Sanders is too far left but be ok with Gabbard?

Independents win elections and too far left turns them off. You want right leaning Indy's who voted for Obie it's got to be a centrist. The far sides vote for their sides idiot regardless

What’s in the mueller report that he needs protecting from?

Because they are Republican establishment royalty. Not because of any idiotic bullshit Russia pipe dream you have swirling around your empty skull

Independent doesn't necessarily mean centrist.

For the majority it does. It’s a bell curve. Indy’s are on both sides far fringe, but they aren’t the mean. I don’t see a far left/true anti-authoritarian/socialist (in your sense of the word) candidate having a chance right now. It just is too much to overcome. I think they’d lose WASPy center lefts too out of fear.

Well, that's kinda the problem, everyone is competing for the same voters and the mythical middle, when bringing in new voters should be the strategy. There's about 100million more people eligible to vote than do already, but they don't participate. One has to wonder why. Those kind of numbers can outstrip any loss of the spineless windsock 'middle' both parties constantly covet. I'm tired of watching candidates lick the nuts of the 100,000 or so whiny, wishy-washy middle aged, middle class derps who worry exclusively about guns and abortion. This is a strategy that's bound to lose and constantly pulls Democrats to the right.

Most Americans dislike all this perpetual warfare. Most Americans dislike the fact that money rules our politics (which is a roundabout way of condemning capitalism as a whole). Most Americans want to be able to defend themselves without interference from government. Most people think government goes too far in regulating individuals but doesn't go far enough in regulating corporations. Most Americans think wages are too low and our national debt too high. Most Americans think that wealth distribution should be more even than it is currently. Most Americans agree that medical decisions should be made by doctors and their patients and government ought to keep their noses out of it. Most Americans think their elected officials don't actually represent them. Most Americans feel like they don't have a voice in their own government.

These are all things that the 'real' left agree with. I think if we could remove the stigma of neoMcCarthyism perpetuated by both parties, most Americans would vote for someone based on all these issues I just listed.

I think Democrats are missing a huge opportunity not only to win the next election, but the next 10 elections, by leaving half of America behind in favor of chasing 10,000 fat, bald, geriatrics in Pennsylvania.

You better come to your senses, noggin. You act like the country is full of intellectuals who are up on politics. A large percentage of trump voters are going to vote for him again. Even after the obvious signs the guy is a snake oil salesman, who the gop bows to. Now if you think you are going to persuade enough of these bozos to vote for everything they’ve been programmed to despise, good fucking luck.
