SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea and the United States struck a new deal Sunday on how much Seoul should pay for the U.S. military presence on its soil, after previous rounds of failed negotiations caused worries about their decades-long alliance.

Last year, South Korea provided about $830 million, roughly 40 percent of the cost of the deployment of 28,500 U.S. soldiers whose presence is meant to deter aggression from North Korea. President Donald Trump has said South Korea should pay more.

On Sunday, chief negotiators from the two countries signed a new cost-sharing plan, which requires South Korea to pay about $924 million in 2019, Seoul's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Here's a thought....let S Korean Soldiers deter the North and we bring our damn near 30,000 home and not pay anything.

This is better tho.  Much better.  This concept for this "we must remain" idiocy started in Korea.  If a nation's own people don't really care enough one way or another whether they are absorbed by another country, even after being provided all the best training and military equipment money can buy, they are a lost hope.  Let them go. I'm way past this whole "we are promoting democracy and spreading freedom" bullshit.

Might as well bring the troops home. Trump has practically surrendered to Kim Jong anyway.

No he settled the whole crisis. He should get the nobel peace prize. We can eliminate our military entirely now.
