You have mentioned a recession coming, so I at least know, despite all your praise for Trudope and the liberals, that you recognize, finally, that Trupdope's and the Libs ways of running this country have finally caught up with them. Or was it the fact there was no interest rate hike yesterday? There is one thing that could defeat the Liberals next October – their juvenile mismanagement of Canada’s economy. The economy shrank unexpectedly in September and the annualized rate of GDP growth fell to 2% in the second quarter versus 2.9% in the first quarter. With inflation at 2.4%, that means we’re spinning our wheels. The economy isn’t growing fast enough to create lots of new jobs and small-business start-ups. And, of course, this mediocre performance occurred before the price of Canadian oil fully hit historic lows and before General Motors announced it was restructuring 2,800 Oshawa, Ontario assembly line jobs out of existence. Despite campaigning in 2015 on making the “rich” pay more so ordinary Canadians can pay less, the Trudeau government has raised the total tax burden on middle-income earners by an average of $800 to $1,000 a year. And since that just about exhausts the list of the prime minister’s talents, it’s hard to see how the Liberals get our economy out of this. The stall is the logical conclusion of three years of a government that doesn’t understand how growth and jobs are created and at times is even hostile to business. Think about the way the Liberals added punishing new taxes on small business owners. The new taxes and the Liberals’ contention that small business owners are largely rich tax cheats, discourages expansion of small businesses. Two perfect examples: Trudeau’s recent remarks about construction workers and his donation-by-tweet of $50 million tax dollars to a global charity. https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/gunter-are-the-liberals-economy-halting-ways-enough-to-send-them-packing-from-office Edited December 6, 2018 by irv
