I know that by law the Army can't fight against the citizens, but hypothetically, I think the citizens could stop the Army. Yes, many would die but ultimately the citizens would prevail.

There is a history of the US Government using US troops against its citizens multiple times starting with the Whiskey Rebellion, but I will leave you with this instance to ponder; July 1932 17,000 WWI vets are camped out in Washington to demand there bonuses from the Great War, in any the order is given to clear the veterans camp,  Army Chief of Staff Douglass MacArthur led the operation withe 12th Infantry Reg along with support of 3rd Cavalry led by none other than George S. Patton to clear the camp of the men, women, and children, deaths occured.

All these guys wanted was there money, and less than 14 years after the signing of the Armistice US troops take action against US veterans, orders must be obeyed and we know this.
