Sears files chapter 11 bankruptcy

All K marts have closed around here.  They have always  had a bad stigma  they were never able to shake.

I read a bit a while back of the differences in Walmart and Kmart's management teams and decisions.  Needless to say, it should be a book on what NOT to do in retail.  K mart made every wrong decision or every decision too late.  It read like a horror story for big business.

We have a KMart and Sears on either side of M66 here....the strip mall that Kmart is located in is mostly empty now and Sears is the anchor for it's smaller mall across the highway....not good.

Your blue light special is now toast .  Sadly the aged workers will most likely take a cut with the sears / kmart pension bomb that will be held soon by the gubbermint  master minds.   https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/2018/10/15/sears-files-bankruptcy/38160675/    :read:

I’m sure she is concerned...Sears missed out early on the online ordering craze.

Weird because my mom used to order shit out of that catalog all the time. Youd think the switch to online would be natural.

Big stores are going away. Don't know if there is anything can be done to change that. Gonna be a lot of empty real estate and less of your tax base covered by local commerce.

Big tax fight here in Michigan over the " dark big box stores " .  All of the good  gubbermint PAC groups have been asking local units of gubbermint to donate taxpayers dollars into the upcoming legal fight with the state tax tribunal . It is now focused on a Menard's store in the U.P. of MI .   We had a speaker come to our real estate investment group . Malls and strip malls are in deep trouble along with office  space property in northern MI.  Extreme thin profit margins , high taxes , needed repairs , fixed daily operational costs ,  glut of space , local gubbermints unwilling to rezone for other possible uses. He said that you will see the investment groups tear down the buildings and sit on the land .  His video showed many  properties that were for lease / sale  for over five years are now  cleared  .

The K-Mart here is now about 4 different stores and the one back home is a manufacturing company.  The Sears closed last year and is in the process of being gutted and renovated into  several smaller stores.  The Sears Hometown back home is still around, somehow.  My first toolbox and tools came from there.

It’s lazy Americans not wanting to get off their overgrown fat asses and actually walk somewhere.

Saw high school kids waiting for the bus the other morning 9 out of 10 were overweight all were not socializing just looking down at their phones.

Surprised they were waiting for a bus and didn't insist mommy drive them.
