Really doesn't mean that much but interesting none the less.

The runoff election was held following the resignation of Democratic state Sen. Carlos Uresti, who was convicted of helping an oilfield service company he co-owned run a Ponzi scheme.

The Republican’s victory cements the party’s control over the state’s upper chamber, controlling 21 of the state’s 31 Senate seats.

“Pete’s strong law enforcement background will be invaluable to the Legislature as we work to combat human trafficking and provide greater protections for our peace officers,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement. “I look forward to working alongside him next session to build a brighter future for all Texans.”

From the left’s standpoint, this victory is even more frightening because the district is 73 percent African-American and Hispanic.

Well not to the left.   You can't truly be a minority and Republican at the same time.

When the left talks about races around the country being a crystal ball into possible election results its ok but when a conservative does it not so much.

I honestly think republicans are going to add seats in the house and for sure the senate

History is really tough to beat here and this one is very difficult to predict.   What impact will the economy have?   What impact will the SC nomination fight have?

I still think the GOP will lose the house by a slight margin and maintain a slight margin in the Senate and maybe add a seat or two.

Honestly a real wildcard will be the AA vote.   Trump has gained some significant support here but will they come out and vote.  But honestly any poll is tough to believe these days.

Who knows. Hillary was supposed to win overwhelmingly. You never count your eggs until they are in the basket.

After the behavior we’ve seen from the left in the past couple years it’s hard to believe anyone but the sheep would vote dem.

There are several races republicans are leading in for house seats that democrats need to take the house. It’s not happening if they don’t win those races
