Trump Loses Independent Voters

Trump Loses Independent Voters
September 10, 2018 at 6:41 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Associated Press: “Indeed, Trump’s turbulent summer appears to have put many moderates and independents out of reach for Republican candidates, according to GOP officials. One internal GOP poll obtained by The Associated Press showed Trump’s approval rating among independents in congressional battleground districts dropped 10 points between June and August.”

“A GOP official who oversaw the survey attributed the drop to negative views of Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the White House’s policy of separating immigrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.”

McClatchy: “Republicans concede that it has been a rough summer for their party—and the president has often been at the center of the GOP’s most challenging moments over the past few months.”

I don't necessarily think that an independent/moderate is going to vote for a candidate bragging up Trump or being bragged up by trump in many places but at the same time when the dem playbook seems to be running people positioning themselves as socialists isn't going to attract those voters either.  I'm struggling with tomorrows primary as I am not big on either Edwards or Sanborn but I'll vote in the R primary since our friends running for county sheriff and while he is by far most qualified we all know that doesn't matter in that race. Otherwise i'd prob wait till November to vote.

Anyone who thinks Trumps numbers are good OR he is helping republicans win seats is just plain dumb.

Even one of the most respected polling firms, who got the Trump vote right?

"I reject your reality, and substitute my own."

I don't think Trump is helping Republicans win seats but Trump fans are going to stay Trump fans whatever he does. Like I've said before you could show Trump killing puppies and pushing little old ladies down stairs and they will say those were ISIS puppies and liberal old ladies and they will love him more than ever.

It's all it is bro.

Clinton was found wanting, and anything Trump does pales in contrast to the results of a Clinton win.

Simply put, he can't do anything worse than The Swamp Queen would have done. It's not what HE does, it's what she WON'T be able to do. :bc:

This is why these voters went all-in for Trump, and why they’re not likely to peel away. It had little to do with ancient ethno-cultural resentments, which is how most media outside of these areas framed it, but with solid economic concerns built up over four decades of failure. These voters didn’t benefit from the expansion in the 1990s and the expansion after the Great Recession and got tired of being left behind. Now that they have had a taste of success with Trump, they are not likely to throw in the towel in 2020, even if the Democratic challenger doesn’t repeat Hillary’s mistakes.
