In the matter of buying votes, me thinks she acted to hastily on the raise to minimum wage earners. Many of these people are just looking for the next bingo game or trip to casino to spend their money. Maybe one of them makes a trip to the reserve for a few “bags of smokes” . They will have forgotten about this kind deed from Seabiscuit and will still be struggling because of their mismanagement . This should have been done within a few weeks of election and she may have gotten a more substantial bump from the electorate. On another note , I spend a lot of time with these people and I would doubt that more than 10 percent even vote. Sad but true.

Wynnebag is desperately trying to cling to power and will screw over our economy in the process.

I won’t even try to explain business to Fail. I have opened and sold 5 restaurants in 20 years. Employed hundreds of people from all walks of life , yet Fail is all knowing and I am nothing.

He knows people like Joe the carpet cleaner.

My brother-in-law is retired and to keep busy he has been driving for Uber. It seems you just work when you want to by signing onto the system. Apparently he can tell you when the welfare cheques hit the banks. There's a huge spike in calls for people wanting to go to the liquor store.

That obviously isn't inclusive of all on welfare but indicative of many. They have their priorities and they could likely live a better life style if they spent that money on other things like a nicer place to live or better groceries.

According to Fail... this is all fake news and these business owners aren't feeling the impact of Wynnebag's minimum wage hike of 22.8% plus the increased cost of benefits, WSIB, CPP and EI.

Fail did a piss poor job of getting his memo to all these people. Maybe it should have gone out on proper Fail letterhead. That would make a difference. After all letterhead is important even in a small business.

You sound like a friend of mine. He owns Rhinos in Bewdley. Not sure how many he has had over the years but he is doing well in a very tough industry. He has managed to keep consistently growing each business, sell it, buy another grow it and sell it until he is where he is today. Long hours often 7 days a week.

News Flash... he is doing well but he IS FAR FROM WEALTHY like Fail believes all small business owners are.

Yes it was. Please return to your cubicle Fail.

I'm not sure he even has a cubicle... maybe it's just a desk among a whole room full of other desks.... OOPS that couldn't be. He must have a high walled cubicle or others could see him posting here all day.

Long hours seven days a week isn't wealthy regardless of what one makes.

Sorry 02, I know he is a friend of yours, but since he bought Rhinos the place has gone downhill fast.

The old atmosphere is gone since the fire and the new reno is sterile and bland. All the good wait staff have left, and the prices have gone way up and the quality has plummeted.

Much like the fish & Chip place he used to own in Cobourg.

I used to frequent Rhinos every couple of weeks year round, but have not been there now for over a year.

Interesting, and good to know. That is/was a regular stop for me and many. Is Britts still there or is Rhino's the only one now, I forget?

Kevin Flynn the Minister of Labour is parroting the bullying nonsense. Sounds like the usual snowflake reaction to anything these days.

To listen to him & Seabiscuit, people run a business so they can be charitable to the employees.

At one point in my career we had 'Turkey Day', we got paid straight time for the Saturday before Christmas even if we didn't work it. I never heard the origin of it but maybe it replaced giving employees a turkey many years ago. Well in 1 contract it was eliminated.

I bet all of you can cite an example of a perq or benefit that your employer ended.

Britts is now the Lakeshore, not great but much better than Rhinos, now!

Good to know! Thanks John. :bc: I'm glad I found this out, as, when I eventually get out there,  Rhino's would have been the place I went into.

Kind of hard to replace the atmosphere of an old building. As for the staff... small town they have to make a living and many had to leave since they couldn't wait for the rebuild. I think he said he had 46 people working there during the summer. The fire cost him big time financially.... you have to recover financially. The previous owners didn't have the same overhead since the place didn't have a mortgage. They also had upstairs apartment revenue which was lost when the fire happened. Gotta make a profit.

we were supposed to stopping by there today on our ride, but the other two guys have wimped out (too chilly or something like that)

I'll head out later and possibly make it over to the clubhouse for wing night!
