Tesla death watch

Good point. One invests in future technologies while the other invests in the downward death spiral of worker’s wages, while enriching 7 members of the Walton family that are now worth $145 billion.

As long as there’s welfare, somebody will profit off it. That’s how it works

So why excuse walmart for being douchebags but condemn musk for putting up his own money to start a new innovative business that likes to fuck workers too?

Cause there are are few here that want to bare Elon’s baby.....  Tesla has been a ponzi scheme from the get go and makes Madoff look like a rookie when it comes to fucking people out of money..  they will soon run out of the federal tax credit....  prolly this quarter and with that they are fucked.

Sending $35 billion in aid to foreign govts, is good. $2.1 trillion in offshored profits to avoid taxation is good. EXTRA $60 billion in military spending is good. Money for US technology advancement is bad.

again I have stated o we and over I am all for a 25% cut to ALL spending to start . then we start making real cuts .

then after we have zero debt and our shit at home is in order do we start looking in to discretionary spending like helping some shit hole that just got trashed by a storm a short tearm loan

He forces overtime, some unpaid, won’t take care of workers injured on the job and expects those workers to shut up....  he is anti union.  He is every bit as bad as the waltons if not worse as he is not profitable but not only fleeces his workers but fleeces tax payers

You seem to have your facts wrong. The CEO gets high marks from workers. I’d give a week’s pay to spend a day shadowing Musk.

Their biggest problem is going to be what happens when their competition, who actually knows how to manufacture cars and has a much larger dealer network, comes online.

I'd have to go to the Twin Cities to get to the Tesla dealer, 60 minutes away.  The VW or Subaru dealer are 6.

And start reading up on actually servicing and repairing a Tesla.  Or check insurance.  Just wait until you have a car unsupported by them!

Nothing wrong with subsidizing technology development but Musk has been on the gravy train a long time and still can't manufacture at a profit.  Volumes on the S and X are too low to recoup development and the model 3 which was billed as affordable to the common man also hasn't been able to produce at a volume needed to supply initial demand and has jumped in price and still sells at a loss.  Musk made himself rich and probably had honest intentions in the beginning but got corrupted by Wall St.

Electric has a long ways to go yet

Bmw will be there first. They’re on the way to producing a cell that’s 40% more energy dense than anything currently available. They’re way ahead of everyone else.

That would be a good start. Then make it charge in 5 minutes.

Automaker BMW is chasing that solid-state battery tech carrot, same as most everyone else in the industry.

BMW expects that around 2026 it will be able to introduce radically improved batteries – of the solid-state variety, which differ from the conventional lithium-ion cells of today by having solid electrolyte in place of liquid electrolytes.

There is still apparently some 10 more years needed to finish research and test durability prior to commercialization (holy cats!), which naturally gives us a healthy dose of skepticism.

According to the article, new solid-state batteries to have many advantages:

    15-20% increase in capacity
    less weight
reduction in the amount of safety protection needed due to the reduced fire risk
the packaging and housing of the batteries to be simplified

In other words, new solid-state batteries will allow more energy in unit of weight.

With all that said, and to take nothing away from the 15-20% gain in capacity – which sounds great, almost no one looking for a new plug-in vehicle has uttered the statement “man, I wish these batteries were just a touch denser,” generally the consensus is that consumers just want their EVs cheaper and to go further, and if that means adding an extra 100lbs, or stealing an extra cu ft or two under the floorboards…then so be it.
