When you start looking at your target market as better off your missing the biggest market.

The guys who can only afford older sleds and would ride at most a handful of days per year.

OFSC has to entice the casual lake / bush trails rider into buying a permit.

2 or 3 guys have already stated that in this last page of comments.

That is what the free weekend was supposed to do. Hey, maybe a few did buy permits. The majority just rode for free and expected to do it every year. Some who were on the fence stopped buying because now they knew they could at least get one free weekend. That group will never buy when they can ride for free.

That was part of the reason why the weekend got moved.

How can the OSFC entice the casual lake/bush rider more than they are doing?

They already have a free (freeloader) weekend to try the trails, but that has now turned into a plan around the weekend and get one more weekend in.  That is a sure formula for the demise of the trail system.  Sometimes you just need to cut your loses and move on.  The permit prices need to go up and pray we get snow.

I was typing basically the same thing when you replied.

It's always interesting to see the $15K sleds running the trails on the freeloader weekend and at times you see the same ones year after year. People aren't dropping $15K for a casual lake / bush trail use.

There are some I know who just ride portages.  They will never contribute and likely don't even have insurance.   Not ecactly a target market to focus on.
