what is god going to think, ben?

Washington (CNN)Newly released emails cast doubt on claims by Secretary Ben Carson and his spokesman that he had little or no involvement in the purchase of a $31,000 furniture set for his Department of Housing and Urban Development dining room.

Emails show Carson and his wife selected the furniture themselves.
An August email from a career administration staffer, with the subject line "Secretary's dining room set needed," to Carson's assistant refers to "printouts of the furniture the Secretary and Mrs. Carson picked out."

The documents were released following a Freedom of Information Act request from American Oversight, a liberal watchdog group led by former Obama administration officials, and offer a snapshot into how the agency acquired the furniture.
HUD spokesman Raffi Williams initially denied the Carsons had any involvement in the dining set selection.
"Mrs. Carson and the secretary had no awareness that the table was being purchased," he told CNN last month.

While no question its excessive where are they suppose to shop Ikea?

I'd guess I'd like to know more about this "dining room."   Is this like an employee commons or personal space for the director?

If its a large commons area I'd say $31K is relatively cheap.   Commercial quality furniture is out of this world expensive.

Come on. He’s a conservative. He fucked up. You don’t need to run interference. If Carson, as a secretary and leader of a major department, can’t see why it’s problematic, he can fuck right off. Live by what you preach. I’m sure you gave Obama era folks the same “yeah, but...” treatment... COME ON!!! Haha

Jesus dude settle down.   I'm simply asking more questions because I didn't look into it at all.  I even said on the surface it look excessive.

I thought my “haha” at the end indicated I wasn’t too hyped up. Just pointing out the hypocrisy. I expect these people to know better. They do. You know they do. They just don’t care. It’d be actually worse if they didn’t realize it was wrong to be honest.

We do some at xmas but thats it.  We would rather put it into our property or recreational activities.  After almost 24 years of marriage it really adds up.   Couple grand plus a year saved or put into the house/property goes a long ways.

Yep that's fucked up. It doesn't matter the affiliation, the level of ethics is looooow

Yep, anybody who thinks Dem. and Rep. politicians aren't one in the same is blind, they just have different messages (mostly lies)...... at the end of the day they're both just leeches of the taxpayer.

The $124 million spent to date for the 303,000 square foot office building is $409 per square foot, more than Trump World Tower, which cost $334 per square foot or Las Vegas’ Bellagio Hotel and Casino, priced at $330 per square foot.

I agree. We need to get this $31,000 under fucking CONTROL!!!!!!1111

I was gonna get my wife a new patio table and chairs for her bday. Stopped at a place in town here . They were all $5 grand. for a table and 4 chairs. Needless to say we will be eating on the old table this summer.
